club Saturday, September 27,
at 12:30 p.m.
The program will include
introductions of all the chair
men on the new board, and a
urvey of the activities
planned for this fall. Mrs. Ben
Dey, chairman of the "County
Home Rule" committee will
give a brief report. Mrs. Thom
as Rutter, voters' service
chairman, will discuss the
pros and cons of the ballot
measures, and also inform the
-guests of the Candidates' Fair
which is scheduled for Sep
tember 17.
; The League extends a cor
dial welcome to anyone inter

returned earlier this month
'from Friday Harbor, , San
Juan islands, where she spent
the summer on a marine bi
ology grant from the Nation
al Science Foundation.
Miss Lynch, a June gradu
ate of Lewis and Clark col
lege with a major in biology,
is now employed at Oregon
State college, Corvallis, as a
research assistant to Dr. Wil
liam . Stephens and Dr. K.
Svenson in the entomology
department. She will work on
projects concerning radiation
effects on insects and plant
viruses.

Ellen Jepson, daughter of Mrs. Dale Davis, 929 West Thir
teenth street, Medford, and William Jepson, Portland, to
Harvey Leonard Tonn of Central Point. His parents are Mr,
and Mrs. Harry L. Tonn, 130 Cedar street, Central Point.
About 150 guests attended
the ceremony, held at eight
o'clock in the evening in First
Presbyterian church. Dr. D.
Kirkland West officiated at
the candlelight ceremony.
Mrs. Ralph Matlack sang,
and Mrs. H. E. Marsh was at
the church organ. Baskets of
pink gladiolus and pink
candles decorated the church
and altar, and candles stood in
the windows.
The bride was given in
marriage by her father. She
wore a gown of white Chan
tilly lace over satin fashion
ed on princess lines with Ital
ian neckline. Tiers of lace and
tulle formed a chapel train.
Couple Married
In Home Rites
Miss Sharon Rose became
the bride of John B. Naismith
in a ceremony held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. J. D.
West, Midway road, Monday,
September 15. The Rev. Virgil
Harsh of the Open Bible
Standard church officiated at
the eight o'clock evening
rites.
The bride is the daughter
of Mrs. Roseitti Rose, San
Jose, Calif., and the bride
groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Naismith, also
San Jose.
The bride wore a white
dacron dress with lace trim
and carried a pink corsage on
a white Bible.
J. D. West gave the bride
in marriage and Mrs. West
attended the bride. Alicia
West was flower girl and Ron
nie West was ring bearer.
The room was decorated
with bouquets of fall flowers.
A small reception followed,
the ceremony.
Out-of-town guests included
an aunt of the' bridegroom,
Mrs. William West, of Biggs,
Calif., and his mother.
The couple will live in Med
ford for the present.

The bride's veil was held by
a lace tiara and she carried a
lace fan with pink' rosebuds
encircling a white orchid. '
Mrs. Richard Dunn, twin
sister of the bridegroom, was
matron-of-honor. Bridesmaids
were TVliss Carol McKeown
and Miss Kristine Christensen.
Their gowns of mint green
satin with Kelly green cum
merbunds were worn with pic
ture hats and they carried
baby pink rosebuds.
Pamela and Gregory Davis,
sister and brother of the bride,
were flower girl and ring
bearer. Pamela wore a pink
and white frock.
Marvin Bohnert, Central
Point, was best man for the
bridegroom and ushers were
Richard Dunn, brother-in-law
of the bridegroom, Wayne
Newnham, Gold Hill, James
Crawford, Central Point and
Gordon Carrigon.
The reception was held in
the church, and was attended
by about 150 guests. Pink and
white gladiolus decorated
the room, and the bride's table
was arranged with baby pink
rosebuds.
Mrs. Ralph Harrison, Port
land, aunt of the bride, cut
the wedding cake and Miss
Dee Clark poured punch. Miss
Myda McCabe took charge of
the guest book.
For the wedding and recep
tion Mrs. Davis wore a gown
of white lace. over, blue taf
feta with blue stole and pink
rosebud corsage. Trie bride
groom's mother wore a blue
brocaded taffeta sheath with
dark blue accessories and pink
rosebud corsage.
Mr. Tonn and his bride
spent their honeymoon in Car
mel, Calif., the bride wearing
for traveling a blue knit suit
with white accessories. They
will make their home in Mc
Minnville, Ore., where the
bridegroom will be a junior at
Linfield college. Mrs. Tonn
attended Medford High school
and Mr. Tonn Crater High
school.
Auxiliary Plans
District Session
A district conference of the
American Legion auxiliary
will be held Thursday, Sep
tember 25, at Larry's restau
rant in Grants Pass at 6:30
p.m. All members are invited
to attend the no-host dinner.

day, September 23.

trict 13 president, will preside
at the meeting. Department

Mrs. Ross Minneci, , Med
ford, was recently appointed
child welfare chairman for
the district.- She is a past
president of the Medford
unit.
The program will include
workshops led by the depart
ment and district chairmen.

Freshman Girl
Plans Study of
Animal Husbandry
Miss Susan Arlene Wright
has enrolled for her freshman
year at California Polytech
nic college in San Luis Obis
po, Calif. Miss Wright will
study animal husbandry.
The student, a daughter of
Mrs. Hazel Wright, 3321 Jack
sonville highway, and Clif
ford Horn, 101 South Keene
way drive, became interested
in animal husbandry through
seven years of 4H member
ship. Before leaving for
school she attended the an
nual Oregon State fair in
Salem. Earlier this summer
she was judged 4H grand
champion sheep showman at
the annual Jackson County
4H fair, and won the reserve
championship for a pen of
three fat lambs.
Last year Miss Wright won
the championship on lambs,
receiving the highest price
ever paid for such animals at
the fair, and has exhibited
cattle in both. San Francisco
and . Salem.
Last year Miss Wright won
a national medal for all
around 4H club achievement,
the medal having been award
ed by. Sears, Roebuck and
company.

Shady Cove - A flower and
hobby show, will be held Fri
day, September 26, at Our
Lady of Fatima parish hall,
Shady Cove, sponsored by
the Shady Cove Garden club.
The event will be held from
1 until 8 p.m.
The show will include three
divisions. All entries must be
in place by noon Friday with
entries in horticulture having
been grown by the exhibitor.
The entries must not be re
moved until after 8 p.m. The
show will be spectator evalu
ated. All interested persons are
invited to enter an exhibit of
any kind, or make an entry
in any division or its classes.
The horticulture specimens
are not specified as to variety
and class.
