In today's fast-paced world, a college
degree is becoming more and
more a necessity for your young

student was in the minority on campus.
Today more than half of all U. S. college

cing their own educations.
I myself am one of these do-it-yourself
students. I am starting my third
year toward a degree in English at
Marycrest College in Davenport, la.
I commute to Marycrest daily from
my home in Rock Island, 111., just across
the Mississippi River from Davenport
I attend all morning classes. leaving my
afternoons free for work at a radio-TV
station in Rock Island. I average 18
hours a week on the job, and carry 18

Although my working hours nearly
equal the time I spend on campus, mv
