Dodgers Maintain

With 2-1 Victory
By MILTON RICHMAN
United Press International
Okay, so the Dodgers won't
be in the World Series, and if
they keep fiddlin around
they can louse it up for Mil
waukee, too.
The Braves can't under
stand it. They hold a season
edge over every club in the
National league except those
dratted Dodgers, who now
have beaten them 12 out of
18 times this year.
Walt Alston's crew clinched
the season's series Wednesday
night with a 2-1 victory over
the Braves that sliced their
lead to 5V2 games. Jt was the
Dodgers' third straight win
over Milwaukee and en
trenched them a bit more
solidly in fourth place.
The Braves staked Warren
Spahn to a one-run lead in
the first inning when Hank
Aaron doubled to score Eddie
Mathews. But the Dodgers
bounced back with a pair (in
the fifth on Joe Pignatano's
homer, a walk and Norm
Larker's triple.
Drives in Eight Runs
Willie Jones had his best
night of the season by driv
ine in eight runs in Phila
delphia's 12-2 victory over St.
Louis, and San Francisco
niDDed Cincinnati, 4-3. Pitts
burgh won the opener of
double header, 4-2, while Chi
cago scored a 5-1 triumph in
the nightcap which was called
because of rain in the bottom
of the fifth.
The, Yankees ended a four
same losing streak and all
talk of possible panic with a
7-1 win over the Indians; the
Tigers gained a 7-1 decision
over the Senators to break a
five-game losing streak; Bal
timore beat Kansas City, 4-3,
and the White Sox won their
seventh straight by defeating
the Red Sox, 10-8.
Jones did all his damage
against the Cardinals with a
pair of three-run homers and
a two-run double. Stan Musial
tied Mel Ott's National league
record for total extra bases
at' 2,165 when he doubled in
the first inning.

Sports Anti-Trust Bill
Proposed by
Washington (UPD A plan
to save minor leagues from
extinction will be placed be
fore : the convening Congress
next year by Sen. Everett M.

The outspoken Senate lead

anti-trust bill Wednesday and

passage of the measure.
Dirkson said his bill would
rescue minor leagues from the
threat of unrestricted major
league television and broad
casting by imposing a 75-mile
blackout during home1 games.
This in turn would safeguard
professional baseball, football
basketball and hockey from
costly anti-trust law suits.
His bill is almost a dupli

which passed the House and
