Engineers Return to Jobs in Portland

and Thursday "cut loose"
members of the Portland local
who had voted 3-to-l for a
settlement of their labor dis
pute with the Associated Gen
eral Contractors and they re
turned to their jobs in J.he
Portland area and in south
west Washington.
Results of ratification votes
in other parts of the state
were not expected to be com
pleted until Saturday and if
union members approve the
AGC offer, work could begin
immediately. " It was expect
ed that projects will be man
ned throughout Oregon and at
full strength by Monday
morning.

Reported Last Week
Twelve cases of mumps and
a total of 22 cases of commun
icable diseases were reported Medford recorded seven
to the Jackson county health j
department during the week
ending Aug. 15, according to
Dr. A. Erin Merkel, public
health physician
cases of mumps and a total of
nine cases" of communicable
diseases. Four mumps cases
were reported in Shady Cove
and one in Gold Kill.
