"Against the
Law," and was
written by a young journalist
who obviously is a fine, ideal
istic man.
His first great misfortune
that he was born an un
happy homosexual,- lonely,"
and craving love, a home and
children, but too honorable
to marry a woman whom he
could never love adequately
in a physical way. He early
decided to live decently, and
never to have anything to do
with boys. Unfortunately, he
got caught in a dragnet set
by the police to catch a cer
tain homosexual Lord. With
out any warrant or excuse,
the police searched Wilde
blood's apartment, and the
apartments of his closest
friends; they appropriated all
his letters; read them, and
later used some . of them in
court to damn him. They rail
roaded him; into jail on the
very questionable evidence
given by a stool pigeon who
had to testify against him,
or else.
Why Women With Cancer Are
Treated With Male Hormone
Women who have had a can
cer of the breast or the ovary
or uterus wonder why they
are being given large doses of
male hormone. They are being
treated in this way because it
was observed many years ago
that if a woman With recur
rent cancer of the breast or
uterus had her ovaries re
moved, she was likely to get
much better for a while. Ap
parently, the female hormone
kept helping the sexual cells
in the cancer to grow, and
when this hormone was re
moved, the cells for a while
quit growing or grew more
slowly. Similarly, it was found
tht when an .elderly man gets
a scattered cancer of his pros
trate gland, the growth of the
tumor cells is likely to be
slowed if he is castrated
Then it was found that similar
slowine-uD effects, could be
produced by giving the wom
an with breast or womb or
ovarian cancer male hormone,
or the man with prostate can
cer female hormone.
Dr. Alvarez hopes his read
ers will undertsand that
would be impossible for him
to answer requests for infor
mation or to attempt to diag
nose by -mail.

Morgan Wednesday urged the
Interstate Commerce Commis
sion to conduct public. hear
ings at San Francisco and
Portland on reduced lumber
rates proposed by Southern
Pacific between Oregon and
Calif ornia - Arizona shipping
points.
The rates, have been sus
pended by the ICC pending
investigation.
Morgan said he had re
ceived numerous letters both
for and against the rate re
ductions. Morgan said he was joining
Sen. Wayne Morse iri urging
that the controversy demand
ed expedited hearings by the
ICC "held locally where all
interests will have ample op
portunity to tell their story."
