Young People Hold Party

people of the Cave Junction
Community church had a
swimming party recently at
the Delbert Scott place on
Hough and Ready creek fol
lowed by a progressive dinner
starting at the Bob Shawhan
home. The main course of the
dinner was served at the Bob
Martins and dessert brought
them all back to the parson?
age.
Young people plan a hobo
party Tuesday at Elk creek.

Mrs. Gene Denning and
daughter, Elizabeth, took the
fourth grade Sunday School
class for a swim party and
weiner roast to Elk creek
Tuesday.
Special guests at the Bill
Weingart home this week
from Newport are three
grandchildren, Carolyn, Jim
my and Patricia McKinnon
while their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Bob McKinnon are
vacationing In California and
Nevada.
Kathy Hussey is with her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Elwood Hussey. Kathy lives
in Ashland where her parents
moved last year.
Apprenticeship Representative Plans to Retire
The local apprenticeship
representative for the State
Apprenticeship Council, C. A.
Guderian, has announced re
tirement plans which become
effective in July.
Guderian came to Medford
with his family in 1946 as
training officer with the Med
ford Public schools for the
veterans' training program.
In 1949 he transferred to the
state bureau of labor and his
present position.
As apprenticeship repre
sentative, Guderian explained,
he is liaison officer between
the council and employers
and employees' His territory
consists of Jackson, Josephine,
Klamath and Lake counties.
No Successor Named
No successor has been
named, he reported..
During World War II, Gu
derian was an instructor at
the Wharton-American Tech
nical school in England. Pri
or to that he served three
years as a training supervisor
with the Seattle port of em
barkation. Before the war, Guderian
was employed by the Salem
Public schools as a shop in
struction and department
head. -
Following retirement, Gu
derian reported, he hopes to
do some traveling.
DRIVING LESSONS
Pownal, Me. (UPI) The
state of Maine has started
driving instruction classes for
some inmates of the Pineland
Hospital and Training Center,
an institution for the feeble
minded. Howard G. Richard
son, state director of driver
training, said the courses are
being given to inmates in the
higher I.Q. bracket who are
near discharge.
Art Exhibit Slated
In Grants Pass
Grants Pass The 11th an
nual Southern Oregon Art Ex
hibit will be held at the
Grants Pass High school li
brary June 27-29. The exhibit
is being sponsored by the
Grants Pass branch of the
American Association of Uni
versity Women.
The exhibit is open to all
medias, Mrs. F. C. Hedges
and Mrs. E. L. Mikesell, co
chairman of the event, said.
Divisions will be available for
elementary, junior, and high
school classes as well as adult
classes.
THIRD WIFE FOR WEBB?
Hollywood (UPI) It may
be wedding bells soon for
actor-producer Jack Webb, 38,
and Jackie Loughrey, 28, Miss
United States of 1952. Webb
took out a marriage license
Thursday in nearby Burbank
to wed Miss Loughrey but
the couple did not reveal their
marriage plans. Webb's for
mer wives were singer Julie
London and actress Dorothy
Towne.

Mrs. J. S. Jamison, sister-
in-law of Mrs. Fred Salvage,
and daughter, Barbara Ray,
left for home Friday after a
week's vacation with the Fred

son spent the day in Medford
and Grants Pass on a shop
ping trip.
