Dean singled and Calvin Dean
and Ray Konopasek were is
sued successive walks (the one
to Dean was intended) by
pitcher Alan McKinnis to
force over one run. Then Dick
Ragsdale doubled off reliever
Bill Anhorn to bring home
the other three markers.
Medford and Central Point
nines are now tied in third
place in the southern district
of the southwestern Oregon
area with one win and one
loss each.

word today from the Califor
nia State Athletic commission
on his request for approval of
a title fight at Wrigley Field
Aug. 4 between Heavyweight
Champion Floyd Patterson
and challenger Roy Harris,
the pride of Cut and Shoots
Tex.
Weill filed his formal appli
cation for a California promo
ter's license Tuesday at the
commission office and at the
same . time deposited signed
contracts from both fighters
for the bout which he predict
ed would draw a gate of bet
ter than half a million dollars.
The man who managed
Rocky Marcianb to the heavy
weight title and before that
acted as promoter for the In
ternational Boxing club (IBC)
in New York might be. a 'pro
moter in name only as far as
the California commission was
concerned, although odds
were in his favor.

the long distance telephone
to advise the various commis

Frye said a decision could
be expected by Friday. He
said the commissioners,-scattered

start rolling on promotion for

a bowling instructors training
school at Eugene Recreation
in Eugene on Saturday, June
21.
The school is sponsored by
the Oregon State Woman's
Bowling association and the
American Junior Bowling con
gress. Purpose is to train men
and women interested in
teaching -bowling. -From the
group three or four will be
chosen to become certified
AJBC instructors for their re
spective areas.
Anyone interested in the
principles of the AJBC, its
teaching methods or the actual
teaching is welcome to attend
the school, according to Mrs.
Leslie Wilson who is president
of the OSBWA" and its junior
bowling instructors chairman.
