Pitchers Swat
In NWL Games
By United Press International
Even rarer than a day in
June are pitchers who can hit
but the Northwest . league
came up with two. such jew
els Tuesdayjiight:
Willie Greenlaw hurled
Wenatchee to a 3-2 victory
over Yakima in 11 innings
and Ken Moursurid pitched
Lewiston to a 5-2 triumph
over Eugene but both would
rather talk about their hit
ting. Greenlaw contributed three
hits to Wenatchee's 10-hit at
tack and got things rolling
in the 11th inning. He started
things off with a single, mov
ed up on a single by Elio
Toboso and scored on another
single by Dick Littlejohn.
Morsund singled in one
Lewiston run in the sixth and
also had a single when the.
Broncos pushed across two
runs in the seventh.
For Moursund it was his
sixth victory against two
losses. The victory enabled
Lewiston to maintain its six
game league lead over second
place Wenatchee. For Green
law, his victory brought his
season's mark to 3-4.
A scheduled game between
Tri-City and Salem was rain
ed out and these two teams
will meet in a double-header
tonight.

Tip-Off on Jobs :
Washington (UPI) Stu
dents' luck in finding jobs
across the country this week
will be the . tip-off on how
much of a June boom in un
employment will be recorded
this year. ; !
The government count of
the nation's jobless for this
month will-start next week
when interviewers begin mak
ing the rounds of 35,000 sam
ple households.
An outpouring . of young
sters from the schools and
colleges is expected to boost
the unemployment total, but
many government economists
doubt seriously that it will
reach six million as Labor
Secretary James P. Mitchell
indicated.
Won't Count Loafers
There ris little doubt, how
ever, that unemployment will
again soar past thefive mil
lion mark. It dipped to 4,904,
000 in May.
The federal fact - finders
will not count as unemployed
those youngsters who are loaf
ing this summer and not ac
tively looking for work. Chil
dren under 14 are not .counted
at all. ;
Unemployment usually goes
up by 15 per cent from May
to June because of the rush
for jobs by teen-agers. Econ
omists doubt that it will rise
that much this year consider
ing: the high, level of unem
ployment now. If it did, un:
employment would reach 5,
650,000, a postwar record.
A South American business
center, now under construc
tion, will be in the form of an
ascending spiral. It will cov
er 25 acres and be 365 feet
high. Access will be by a
ramp.

Helps Toronto
By United Press International
Rocky Nelson, whose bat
has carried the Toronto Maple
Leafs up the ladder from the
second division in the Inter
national league, is still bomb

who now stand half-a-game
behind Montreal. Pancho
Herrera and John Bucha hit
