Smith, 17, is the son of Mr.

attend Oregon State college
this fall, where he will study
electrical engineering.

of directors of the Antioch
cemetery associatiorat the an
nual meeting held May 30 at
the cemetery.

Surveying of the cemetery
and marking of plots has been
delayed because of lack of in
terest, Mrs. Loftin said. An
appeal has been made to mem

friends buried in the historic
cemetery to cooperate in the
project.

PERMITS FOR OPEN BURNING
TOSTOP
The Jacksonville Volunteer Fire Department has an
nounced that no more permits for open burning will bt
issued in the City starting June 1, 1958.
The Department said open grass fires will be In
violation of the city ordinance and all trash fires must be
in properly screened incinerators. Seasonal permits for
incinerators can be obtained from the Jacksonville Po
lice Chief; incinerators will be inspected by the Chief of
Police, to see if they are properly screened before a per
mit will be issued.
Permit holders must have sufficient garden hose
available while burning, must not built too large a fire,
and must do all burning between 8 a.m. and noon.
Holders of permits are responsible for damage
from fire if it should spread to surrounding areas and
any permits may be revoked if requirements are not met.
All grass must be cleared from around incinerators,
and they must be properly screened before a permit will
be given.
