cost of the project, which in
cluded work on state hold
ings in 14 Oregon counties,
was $4,627,147.18. This in
cluded the cost of seeding and
planting, road and fire line
construction and other im
provements designed to bring
the land back into produc
tion and protect it from fires.
Overall Project
The overall project has seen
40,609 acres planted to near
ly 32,000,000 forest tree seed
lings and 64,346 acres seeded
from the air. In addition,
853,799 snags have been fell
ed and the land blocked out
by 150 miles of firebreaks.
The forester added that 160
miles of roads have been con
structed end 2,000 miles main
tained. Phipps pointed out that by
