Grange Notes
Phoenix Grange
There was a good attend
ance at Phoenix Grange meet
ing Tuesday, April 22, who
heard an interesting lecture
by Warren Fairbanks, chief
naturalist at Crater Lake Na
tional park. He was intro
duced by Mrs. Willis House,
lecturer, and was assisted by
Linn Seger who showed color
slides to illustrate different
points of interest.
He said Crater Lake was
one of 30 National parks in
the U.S. and their object is to
conserve our natural re
sources, and enlarge and im
prove facilities to accommo
date more people as there is
a rapid diminishing and
shrinking of many recrea
tional and primitive areas.
Slides of other parks and
monuments were shown.
He told of Mt. Mazama and
how Crater Lake was formed.
Slides showed plant, ani
mal and bird life, curious
rock and ground formation.
He advised those visiting
the park should seek informa
tion from the Park Service in
order to be able to see and
understand better the gran
deur and natural wonders, v
Fairbanks was accompanied
by Mrs. Fairbanks, who is a
charter member of Charity

Following the program,

of 15 candidates. Four from
Roxy Ann, one from Upper
Applegate and 10 from Phoe
nix. The tableux were arranged
by Mrs. Charles Hockersmith
and Mrs. L. O. Penland. Sta
tions and stage were decorat
ed with spring flowers.
Thanks should go to those
members of Roxy Ann Grange
who assisted with the songs
during the degree work.
Roxy Ann degree team will
confer the third and fourth
degrees to candidates at the
Phoenix Grange, Tuesday,
May 13, and an invitation is
extended to other Granges
having candidates wishing to
take those degrees.

Mrs. Dwight Albright, one of
our leaders, told us how to
peel vegetables correctly. We
practised setting tables for
