Five yeai-s of planning and two years of

A new hospital, costing about $2,800,000, will
be dedicated in ceremonies at 2 o'clock tomorrow

of Barnett and Murphy rds. Following cere

an open house also are' scheduled Sunday.
The hospital originated almost 40 years ago
as a small, private institution with only a few
beds. The new structure has a present capacity of
80 beds, but the central corp of the facilities will
provide for a hospital of 150 beds.
Public subscriptions totaling about $900,000
came from 3,300 individuals throughout the val

construction, with $564,000 from federal Hill
Burton funds, and $26,300 from the Ford Foun
dation. Virtually all the equipment in the hospital
is new. The third floor, which includes the nurs
ery, three major operating rooms, and obstetrical
suite along with other doctors' and nurses quar
ters, is automatically air-conditioned throughout
the year.
Various wards and other rooms are on
the second floor, while laboratories, emergency
wards, ambulance entrance, and administrative
offices are on the first floor. The basement in
cludes housekeeping and sewing rooms, the laun
dry, the kitchen, cafeteria, general store rooms,
autopsy room, engine room and the stand-by
generator. - '
The information desk and switchboard are
just inside the main entrance, and on the wall
ba'ck of the reception lobby will be the names of
individual donors. The plaque, officials said, will
be temporary at first, but a permanent plaque is
planned in the future.
Patients from the present hospital will be
moved to the new building May 1.
