Williams Miss Barbara
Jean Parsons became the
bride of Jack Edward Collier
in a ceremony held March 28
at the La Loma Church of
Christ in Modesto, Calif. The
bride is a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. W. T. Parsons. Wil
liams. The bridegroom is a
son of Mrs. Roy Blom, Mo
desto. . The Rev. Sherman L. Can
non officiated at the double
ring ceremony held at eight
o'clock in the evening. About
125 relatives and friends at
tended. White calla lilies and
blue Dutch iris decorated the
church.
Music for the ceremony was
by the a cappella choir in
cluding Mrs. Norman Ellis,
Mrs. Richard Wallers, Miss
Becky Greff, Ted Langford,
Leland Wright and J. B. Pem
berton. It was under the di
rection of Mr. Langford.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a white
cotton and Dacron flock dot
frock fashioned with a back
panel of white satin which
formed a train. Seed pearls
trimmed the tulle yoke of
the dress and also the crown
which held her veil. She car
ried white orchids on a white
Bible.
Mrs. D. D. Sage, Castro
Valley, Calif., was honor at
tendant for her sister and
Miss Edra Jarrell was brides
maid. They wore pale blue
linen sheath dresses with dark
blue satin panel in back. They
carried blue and white carna
tions. Norman G. Ellis served as
best man while Charles Key
and Richard Wallers seated
the guests.
Following the ceremony a
reception was held at church
parlors. Blue and yellow flow
ers decorated the rooms for
the event The couple are
making their home at 1532 Va
Pearl street, Modesto, follow
ing a wedding trip to Santa
Cruz and Monterey, Calif. For
her traveling attire the bride
chose a beige linen suit with
yellow and white accessories.
The bride attended Central
Point grade schools and is a
graduate of Grants Pass High
school. She attended Abilene
Christian college, Abilene,
Texas, and is employed by the
Campbell Soup company, Mo-

Annual Award Winners
Announced Last Week
A number of annual
awards were announced at
the annual .mother-daughter
tea and style show held on
Thursday at Medford High
school as part of the 1958
Girls' league week.
Mrs. Edward Leach, Girls'
State chairman for the Med
ford unit, American Legion
auxiliary, announced the
names of delegates to this
annual event.
The students chosen are
Miss Sue Baker, Miss Sharon
Blickenstaff, Miss DeWanda
Winchell and Miss Karen
Paschke. Miss Carol Swan is
alternate.
Also presented at the tea
desto. Mr. Collier attended
Modesto grade schools and is
a graduate of Modesto High
school. He is a student at Mo
desto college having previous
ly attended Abilene Christian
college.

awards. Sophomore student
winners received silver pins.
They are Miss Rossiland
Randies and Miss Penny
Linn. The junior students re
ceived gold pins and these
awards went to Miss Judy

winners, Miss Nancy Adams
and Miss Myda McCabe, re
ceived gifts.
The awards were based on
contributions made to the
Girls' league program.
Miss Delores Williams was
awarded a PEO merit award
by Mrs. Robert Dames. A
Future Homemaker of To
morrow pin was given to Miss
Judy Anderson. Miss Susan
Martin won the Mrs. Burton
Lowry award, and the DAR
citizenship award winner,
Miss Winnifred Gott, was in
troduced by Mrs. Grace Gerg.
After a style show, nearly
500 guests were served dur
ing the tea held in the cafe
teria.
The week's activities for
the Girls and Boys league
week included "grubby day"
on Monday; sack lunch day
on Tuesday and a Boy's
league assembly on Wednes
day. The Boys league assembly
was a revised edition of the
Arthur Godfrey's Talent
Scout program. Bob Gee was
master of ceremonies. Furn
ishing entertainment were
Bob Sheldon, who played an
electric guitar; and Ron East
gate and Gerry Lyons, who
sang. In a popular vote con
test the two singers tied for
honors.
Republicans
Plan Events
Jackson county Republicans
will hold a Candidates' Fair
Monday, April 21, at Rogue
Valley Country club at 12
noon. This will replace the
April meeting ; of Jackson
County Republican Women.
Each candidate will speak
briefly, and the public is in
vited to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Littrell
have invited guests to their
home, 140 Greenway circle,
to meet Melvin Lattie who is
seeking the Republican nom
ination for representative to
the Oregon legislature. The
reception is set for Tuesday,
April 22, at 3 o'clock.

urer, and Mrs. Unander, will
be in Southern Oregon dur
ing the coming week.
Republican women of Jack
son county are sponsoring a
coffee hour for Mr. and Mrs.
Unander Wednesday, April 23
from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Pio
neer room of the Jackson ho
tel. The public is invited.
A coffee hour is also being
held in Ashland Wednesday
from 10 to 11 ajn. in the New
Room of the Plaza cafe.

Republican nomination for
governor in the May primary

Charter Members
Reames chapter, Order of
the Eastern Star, will honor
charter and fifty-year mem
bers at a stated meeting at 8
p.m. Thursday, April 24 at
Medford Masonic temple.
There will be appropriate
entertainment under the di
rection of the program chair
man, Mrs. H. F. Nordwick.
Refreshments will be served
in the dining room following
the meeting.
Mrs. E. G. Randolph, solo
ist of Reames chapter, Order
of the Eastern Star, Medford,
was guest soloist at a recep
tion Saturday evening, April
12, for Mrs. John Wright,
Myrtle Creek, grand Martha
of O E S in Oregon.
Mrs. Randolph sang two
numbers. She was accompa
nied by Mrs. George Ketch
um, Reames chapter organist.
The reception was held in
the Tri-City school, and was
attended by Mrs. Laurose Hib
berd and M. Edwin Cox,
worthy grand maron and pa
tron and other grand officers
of Oregon, as well as a large
number of Eastern Star offi
cers and members from chap
ters throughout the state.
Ms. Randolph recently re
ceived an appointment as
grand representative of the
District of Columbia in Oregon.

Mrs. Dunbar Carpenter, Foothills road, left Medford by
plane Thursday for Atlantic City, N.J., where she will attend
the 23rd convention of the League of Women Voters of the
United Stales. Mrs. Carpenter is first vice-president of the
Medford league. . United States foreign policy and national
water resources will be the subjects of major discussion
during the convention which opens Monday and lasts
through Friday.

ing an active part in alerting
business management to pay
the proper, tribute to all sec
retaries who have a signifi
cant place in business.
