Convention Season Opens

The 1958 convention season opened in Medford last week end when the 34th annual sessioni
of the Grand Guardian council. International Order of Job's Daughters, and Oregon bethels
was held here. A formal ball was held for bethel members Friday at Hedrick Junior High school
auditorium and pictured early in the evening are (left to right) Miss Janice Williams, Grants
Pass, grand queen for the coming year; Miss Pat Crawley, Klamath Falls; Miss Carol Curran,
Oregon City, retiring grand queen, and Miss Christine Smith, Oregon City.

The opening ceremonies of the Job's Daughters convention in Medford last week end included a traditional flag ceremony arranged by

Among the young people attending the formal dance held as part of the
Job's Daughters convention were (left to right) Bruce Bush, Miss Sandra

Miss Shirley Sluyter, senior princess; Miss Carolyn Bauman,
queen, and Miss Betty Auda, junior princess, all of Bethel 16,
Portland, and Miss Gail Rosebraugh, queen of the Beaverton
bethel, rested on the stairs when they became tired waiting
for a session to begin.

Delighted with the warm spring weather, delegates to Job's Daughters
convention turned out for informal session wearing shorts and cotton shirts.

About 450 took part in the competitive drills staged during the closing day of the Job's Daughters convention, and
pictured here is the- team from the Salem Bethel 43, which placed in the exhibition division. L. H. Manning, Med
ford, new grand inner guard of the Grand Guardian council, was in charge of this part of the program. About 1,250
daughters and more than 250 adults attended the sessions.
