Visit to Swamp

tary Order of Lizards, will
make her official visit to
Cebu Swamp Saturday, April
12, in Grants Pass at the VFW
Hall. A covered dish lunch
eon will be served at 12:30
p.m. Salads and desserts will
be furnished by the members
from Medford.
Mrs. Grosh returned last
week after visiting Illo Illo
swamp, Eugene, and Malabon
Swamp, Portland. While in
Portland she was a guest at
a luncheon and banquet held
in honor of Mrs. Ada Duffy
Salem, 111., president of the
National Auxiliary, United
Spanish war veterans.
Mr. Grosh accompanied his
wife.

To Hold Meeting;

The club welcomes visitors
who are interested in rocks
and minerals, also anyone in
terested in viewing the dis
play case that won the trophy
at the Sweet Home show
last month for the third con
secutive time. The trophy now
belongs to this club perma
nently. Members of the club con
.tributed materials. The ar
rangement was set up by Mrs.
John Dodge. Mr. and Mrs. W.
Turner had charge of the
case.

Ashland; Mr. and Mrs. J.

Mrs. Mary Page was hon
ored April 5 at a birthday
party given by her daughter,
Mrs. Earl Shepherd. The event
was at Mrs. Page's home, 415
Laurel street.

Orchestra Seeks
String Players

made by Dr. Herbert Cecil,
director of the Southern Ore
gon Little Symphony orches
tra, which has begun rehears
ing for its final concert of
the season. It will be pre
sented on Sunday " evening,
May 18.
The program will be pre
sented jointly by the orches
tra and the Southern Oregon
College choir, directed by
Oscar C. Bjorlie. Each of the
organizations will present a
group of selections and the
program will be conducted
with a group of four choruses
from Handel's "Messiah" per
formed by the combined
orchestra and choir.
Anyone who plays a string
instrument and would like
to be a member of the orches
tra is cordially invited to
come to rehearsal Monday,
April 7, at 7:30 in Band hall
on the Southern Oregon col
lege campus.

model for a figure study type
workshop.

iety. Pictures to be exhibited for
April were selected by Mr.
Walsh. These included oils by
Mrs. Viola Moore, Gold Hill,
and Mrs. Ada Castello, Med-
ford Mrs. Moore's "Castle
Crags" will be exhibited in
Barker's store, Medford, and
Mrs. Castello's work entitled
"Chinese Bowl" can be seen
in the Medford library.
A watercolor by Blanche
Johnson, "Portrait of a
horse" will be shown in Had-
ley's, a pastel entitled "Oz-
of
arks' by Ruby Twedell, and
an oil, "Bandon Beach," by
Genevieve Ashenburner, will
be shown at Medford Paint
store.
It was decided by the group
to eliminate the November
and December meetings in the
future.
The executive committee
will meet the second Monday
of each month at 7:30 p.m.

ered mints. For six consecu
tive years these mints have

Camp Fire Girls annual sale.
This is the second year the j
Camp Fire Girls have includ
ed Circus brand peanuts also j
in their sale.
Proceeds from the sale,
which will extend through j
April 23, will be ..used to ex
tends the Camp Fire program
in Jackson county and to en
large the camping program.
The annual candy sale gives
the girls experience in busi
ness, and an opportunity to
do something for Camp Fire.
The sale is approved by the
United Medford Crusade and
the Ashland - Talent United
Fund of which Camp Fire is
a participating agency.
