"was buried beneath earth
and boards."
The boy, Gorden Carl
Brown, died of suffocation
Friday afternoon buried
under four feet of dirt in an
underground cabin.
A playmate, 11-year-old
Johnny Bowsher, suffered
bruises and shock in the ac
cident. He escaped suffocation
when a piece of plywood fell
on top of him, keeping the
dirt from his mouth and nose.
Mrs. John Brewster, who
discovered the tragedy, dug
frantically with her hands in
a futile attempt to save the
Brown boy.
