cated at the south end of Cave
Junction, has been sold by
owner Valeria Rauber to Wil
liam J. McLean, Cave Junc
tion real estate and insurance
agent, and Laurence Cushing,
local attorney.
One of the largest in the
valley, the motel includes the
main building, several year
round rental units, a number
of tourist cabins and a swim
ming pool.
Mrs. Rauber, who with her
late husband, managed Caves
Park Motel for 12 years, plans
to remain in the valley. She
is a candidate for the office
of Josephine county commissioner.
Grange. A charter presenta
tion is planned for this spring.

7:30 p.m. Comedy movies and
a square dance are planned.
Mrs. Robert McKinnon and
her three children, daughter
and grandchildren of Mr. and
Mrs. William Weingart, left
Monday for their home at
Newport, Ore. after spending
four days with the Weingarts
at Cave Junction.
Mrs. Weingart was in New
port last week at the McKin
non home. She returned to
Cave Junction with her
daughter and family.

According to Cole Rivers,
biologist for the Oregon
Game Commission, several Il
linois valley sites are under
consideration for the develop
ment of steelhead and salmon
rearing ponds, in conjunction
with a new experiment in
propagating steelhead for
sports fishing.
The reservoir will be about
100 acres in extent. Rivers
says there are four potential :
sites here, one for a warm wa-!
ter fish lake, and three for j
propagation of fish. Geologi
cal survey work must be done
before final approval is given
by the game commission.

fire houses in the district.
Mr. and Mrs. George W.
Martin barely beat the snow
storm to Cave Junction when
they returned last week from
two months spent on the
Colorado river.
Mrs. Sallay Robinson, who

has been living in the Illi
nois valley since the death
of her husband late last year,
has taken a position in the li
brary at Fortuna high school.
The older Robinson boy, Ed
die, is in his senior year at
Fortuna high school.
Visiting at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Dan Hadley are Mr.
and Mrs. Wayne Bowers, and
Mrs. Bowers' mother, Mrs.
Anna Hadley, all of Waldron,
Mich. Mrs. Bowers is Dan
Hadley's aunt.
A new Boy Scout troop was
formed Monday night at Sel
ma ,with Jim Holten as Scout
master, and Bill Burch, Dale
Tucker and Robert Wilson, as
sistants. Nine boys have signed up
for the troop, which is being
sponsored by the Deer Creek
Ralph Burns, who started
the vocational agriculture de
partment at Illinois Valley
High school four years ago,
has submitted his resignation
to the County Unit School
Board, effective at the end
of the school year.
Burns will enter the Uni
versity of Oregon this sum
mer, where he plans to com
plete work for his doctor's
degree during the next four
years.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Boyd
were hosts for the Illinois
Valley Mineral Hobbies club
Tuesday evening.
Guests were Mr. and Mrs.
Wayne Bowers of Michigan,
who were introduced by Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Loosley; and
