The goblet was what is
known as "Trilby glass." It
gets its name from the de-

"Break another any time
you wish," my hostess said
when I gave it to her. "Just
so long as you replace it in
color, and any old color will
do."
Her generous attitude was
quite justified. As I learned a
little later, "Trilby glass" in
color is so rare that hereafter

Value Increased
Chicago (W The Uni
versity of Chicago's Enrico
Fermi Institute for Nuclear
Studies has increased the re
search value of its 450-mil-lion-electron-volt
synchrocy
clotron. The institute has projected
a proton beam outside the big
accelerator and into a newly
constructed underground ex

The beam, one of the
world's most intense and the
first of its kind in this coun
try, will permit use of the ac

Pintainls are among the
favorites of American ducks.
Their name comes from the
elongated central tail feath
ers.. They are often called
"sprigs" by gunners.
