Salem The department
of motor vehicles has re
leased names of 370 whose
licenses were ordered sus
pended during the period be
ginning March 19 and ending
March 25.
Length of suspension varies,
depending on charges in
volved, recommendation of
court, discretionary action by
the department or ' require
ments of Oregon law. The de
partment said some of the li
censes involving financial re
sponsibility and court recom
mendations may have been re
instated after suspension was
ordered.
The department warned
drivers that the penalty for
driving while suspended is a
jail sentence of no less than
two days and up to six months,
and there may be imposed a
fine up to $500. Under li
censing procedures, this will
also result in an additional
year of suspension.

Pressure Growing
For Tax Decision

Eisenhower was under grow
ing pressure today to make
a decision this month on
whether to recommend an
anti-recession tax cut.
The pressure came from in
fluential Speaker Sam Ray
burn, who will call the signals
in the House where any tax
reducing legislation must orig
inate, and from a member of
the President's own cabinet,
Labor Secretary James P.
Mitchell.
Their insistence conflicted
with the advice of high admin
istration officials that the
President wait until late May,
when he will have a fuller
picture of economic condi
tions, before deciding on the
tax question.
