Oregon chapters participating
in the annual state meeting
March 7 and 8 at Oregon
State college.
FHA is composed of high
school girls taking home eco
nomics classes. The state
membership now totals 4,294
girls.
The senior high chapter has
55 girls enrolled. Miss Sylvia
Morris is chapter president
and Mrs. Jean James is ad
viser. Ihirty girls are en
rolled in the McLoughlin
chapter. President of the
group is Miss Julie Fought
and Mrs. Joanne Weatherford
is adviser. Miss Carolyn Finch
is president of Hedrick chap
ter which has 40 girls en
rolled. Mrs. Dorothy Sneed is
adviser to the group.
Crater chapter has 113 girls
enrolled and is the fourth
largest chapter in the state.

Mr. and Mrs. William Dawkins of Ashland appeared at
the Tudor guild Mardi Gras ball last week end dressed as a
Confederate. Army officer and southern belle. Mrs. Dawkins
assembled her costume, but Mr. Dawkins' uniform is a family
heirloom, one of his ancestors having fought on the side of
the south in the Civil War. Mr. Dawkins found, the suit a
trifle uncomfortable for dancing and was heard to remark
"No wonder the South lost the war with the men wearing
such uniforms." Mrs. Dawkins was one of the general chair
men for the event.

land was one of the co-chairmen
for the Mardi Gras festi
val given last week end by
Tudor guild, and she and her
husband attended the ball
dressed as East Indians. Mrs.
Skerry wore a beautiful sari
given her by the former Ivy
Coffey, who at one time at
tended Southern Oregon col
lege, and Mr; Skerry wore an
authentic "ghati and turban.
Mission Festival

East Main st.v will hold a Festi
val of Missions at 7 p.m. to
day at the church.
The program will start with
a missionary instruction and
inspiration program in the
church and later will continue
in the church parlors. During
the evening slides prepared
by Dr. and Mrs. A. P. Klom
hause, formerly of Rogue
River and now medical mis
sionaries in New Guinea, will
be shown. The couple, who
are in charge of the Lutheran
hospital at Mambisandi, are
members of the St Peter con
gregation. The group, 'under the direc
tion of Roberta Gemaehlich,
Christian growth chairman,
will present the work done by
the Lutheran church Mis
souri synod in four different
countries. Booths will display
maps, posters, charts, and
items of the various countries
and cultures. 1
The public is invited to attend.

Researchers Produce
Chemical Skin Oils

University of Wisconsin re
searchers have been able to
reproduce chemically natural
skin oils that may be used
to improve women's cos
metics. Professor Dale Wurster said
that his group has been able
to duplicate the natural oil
by making infra-red studies
of concentrated oil. He said
it will Mae able to be used in
lotions to re-form the natural
skin barrier for women who
have dried and chapped skin.
Natural oils from a thin
protective covering over the
skin and are related to skin
conditions of drying, chap
ping and possibly wrinkling,
he said.
