reported to the Radiological
Society of North America that
in the last six
years he has
used radio-

suffering from
cancer of the
prostate
gland. For
years this
disease was

considered almost" hopeless.
Then expert surgeons devised
a method of removing practic
ally the whole gland, arid that
helped in some cases. In re
cent years, it has been learn
ed that if the cancer can only
be found before it is widely
scattered outside the gland,
its growth can, for some time,
be held stationary by injec
tions of radio-active gold. This
acts as a sort of artificial
radium.

nounced Saturday by the firm
assigned the job of perfecting
the motors.
The Aerojet-General corp.
reoorted that during the past
19 months its solid rocket
plant near Sacramento, Calif.,
had successfully developed
what it termed "the largest
solid engine power plant ever
built for specific application
to a particular missile."
The Polaris missile is de
signed to propel a nuclear
warhead about 1500 nautical
miles and the Navy previously
had revealed it was working
on plans to fire the missile
both from surface and sub
surface fleet units.
Spokesmen for Aerojet said
the firm had to solve the prob
lem of . designing . a power
plant that was both light and
streamlined for fleet use.

tate gland for long remains

Medicine Taken by Mouth
Of late, reports have been
made of the treatment of the
common trichomonas infesta
tion of the vagina with a med
icine called aminotrozole
which is taken by mouth. It
is given three times a day for
10 days. According to Drs.
Gisella Perl. Alan F. Gutt
macher and Miss Halina Rag
gazoni, of Mt. Sinai hospital,
New York City, the parasites
were quickly killed in about
one-third of the cases. One
gcod thing about the treat-
rient is that it can be given to
'lie husband to cure his in
festation with the organism
Unless he is cured at the same
time as the wife, there is no
use in treating the wife; be
cause she will quickly get
into trouble again. Swapping
of the parasites, back ana
forth from husband to wife,
probably accounts for the fact
that so many women do not
get well under the usual forms
of treatment.

Fire Destroys
Pyle Theater
Tokyo OP) A spectacu
lar fire demolished the old
Ernie Pyle theater building in
downtown Tokyo Saturday.
Three girls were killed but
nearly 5,500 persons escaped
vithout injury.
Some 10 other persons were
injured but firemen were
amazed that the toll was not
higher.
The five-story building,
which housed three theaters
was packed when a stage fire
that was part of an act in the
first floor music hall got out
of hand.
The theater, a landmark in
Tokyo and a favorite spot for
U.S. soldiers and tourists,
was named after the late Er
nie Pyle, Scripps-Howard war
correspondent who was kill
ed by a sniper's bullet in
World War II.

000 damage suit against the
Fairmont hotel has been filed
here by Actress Marie Mc
Donald, who claimed she was
injured when she fell off a
stage at the hotel Oct. 10.
Miss McDonald's attorney,
Lou Ashe, filed the suit in
superior court, claiming the
injuries forced the actress to
cancel $35,000 worth of bookings.
