Greenburg, Pa. (IP) State
Sen. John D. Dent (D-Pa.),
winner of the year's first con
gressional election, today
called his victory "proof that
the people of the country are
sorely dissatisfied with man
agement on a national scale
and with external and inter
nal problems."
Dent won easily Tuesday
over Republican Herbert O.
Morrison, a Pittsburgh radio
newscaster, in the Westmore
land county election in which
161,436 voters, only 42 per
cent of those eligible, cast bal
lots. Unofficial results from
256 of the 270 precincts gave
Dent 39,129 votes to 29,786
for Morrison. Votes from the
14 remaining districts will be
counted later today.
Dent will succeed the late
Rep. Augustine Kelley, a
Democrat who died last No

lic. Producer Sam (MGM) Zim
balist decided several months
ago that Hudson was the only
man to star in his remake of
"Ben Hur." Rock concurred.
Zimbalist then asked Uni
versal if he could "borrow"
the handsome actor for a few
hundred thousand bucks. U-I
demurred. Hudson is under
contract to Universal, and if
he is to perform in any
money - making pictures, the
studio decrees, he will make
them on his home lot.
Outraged, Rock threatened
to take off on a three-year
vacation.

Zimbalist appealed to Uni
versale better non-monetary
nature. Nothing. So the pro
ducer had to get the Rock out
of his head.
"Hudson's dying to do the
picture," Zimbalist says, "and

For Crash Survivors
Honolulu (IP) The Navy
has relieved all but two of its
ships from the search
for survivors of a military C97
that disappeared Sunday on a
flight from Hawaii to Kwa-
jalein.
The destroyer escorts Rad
ford and Edmond patrolled
the area where bits of wreck
age were found, just on the
off-chance there might be
some survivors of the seven
crewmen aboard the missing
plane. ,
Two Air Force officers were
aboard the Radford in case
either of the ships should find
more debris. Such bits of
wreckage might be a help in
discovering what caused the
plane to crash.

culiar form of rheumatoid ar
thritis, but a new blood test
now indicates that the two
diseases are not related. Spon
dylitis seems to be a peculiar
disease which usually attacks
young men. As I said, within
a matter of months the spine
is badly injured. So far as I
"know, there is no cure. X-rays
are commonly used to give
some relief from pain. After
the process has quieted down
and the joints of the spine
have been destroyed, there is
likely to be less pain.
Giant Hives
People ask what can be
done for giant hives. They say
they have been to allergists
and have had many of their
foods and their cosmetics,
tranquilizers, barbituates and
vitamins taken away, and still
they have their hives.
In my experience, the little
hives can be due to some food,
while the giant hives are gen
erally due to some painful
emotion or indecision. Many
a time, I have cured the big
hives almost overnight by
getting the person to face
some problem, like that of
giving up an unsatisfactory
love affair or divorcing a hus
band, or accepting him as he
is. Once the woman made a
definite decision and stuck to
it, she was well.
