enson Monday assaiied the "rav
ages of Humphrey, Wilson and
yesterday's heroes' to the na
tion's missile program and said
the United States must restore
its allies' confidence in her prom
ises of aid even at the risk or
nuclear war.
In an address prepared for
delivery before a chapter meet
ing(jf the American Civil Lib
erties Union, and revised by
him almost up to the time he
rose to speak, Stevenson said
he was "hopeful that the meas
ures taken at "NATO this week
q will go far to restore solidarity
and strength to the Atlantic
Community."
Confidence Said Shaken
In his address, he said that
the Soviet success with launch
ing the sputniks had shaken the
United States' confidence in it-

A meeting of the Antelope 4-H
club was held Dec. 10 at the An
telope school house. We signed
up for next year's projects. Al
bert Bigham said they would
weigh steers between Christmas
y and New Years. We also had a
new club member. She is Katy
Bever and she selected beef as
her project. After the meeting
we had an exchange of Christ
mas gifts and refreshments. The
next meeting will be held on
Jan. 14.

Nimble Thimbells
Sewing and Knitting Club '
The third meeting of the Nim
ble Thimbelles Sewing and
Knitting club was held on Sat
urday, Dec. 14, at the home of
Lucile Frink. We all were to
bring canned foods to the meet
ing, which will go to some needy
family. We also discussed a new
project for the club. We are
thinking about saving all the pen
cil stubs, cereal puzzles etc. to
give to a hospital for less fortu
nate children. Another thing
brought up was enrollment cards
are ti be filled out and returned
to tVe 4-H agent, Miss Marilou
Garner. The next meeting will
be held on Jan. 11.

Kands Kids Cooking Club
TheTKandy Kids Cooking club
of Central Point has held three
meetings this year. We elected
officers. They are: Carol Von
Der Hellen, president; Donna
Meade, vice president; Patsy
Charley, secretary; and Nancy
McKay, treasurer. We had a
meal planning discussion with
our leader Doreen Bradshaw
who showed a nutritional needs
and color idea chart. At the last
meeting a demonstration on
bread making was given by our
junior leader, Sharon Coffman.
The next meeting of the club
will be held in January,

Davis To Take Over
Chef Baker's Garage
Albert E. Davis, 51 North
Oakdale ave., announced today
that he is taking over ownership
of Chet Baker's garage, located
at 918 West McAndrews rd., ef
fective Jan. 2. Davis has "been
employed as a mechanic by Bak
er for several years. The busi
ness will be known as Bert's
Automotive Service.
Davis, in addition to operat
ing the garage, will have the
distributorship for the Waterless
Battery Corp. of El Segundo.
Calif., in Jackson, Josephine and
Klamath counties.
