Changes in Districts, Classes
Made by OSAA Governing Board
Portland (IP! A new Class
A-l tQh school athletic league
in Oregon was approved here
Friday by the board of governors
of the Oregon School Activities
association. It would curtail
Portland schoolnarticipation in
state play-offs Nay about one
third. The board also approved an
extensive overhaul of the Class
A-2 league of high schools.
The changes were voted unani
mously by the seven-member
board of governors and go into
effect at the start of the 1958-59
school year.
The new A-l league would
consist of eight teams and was
placed in the District 2-A-l posi
tion in the state high school play
off setup. The Portland Inter
scholastic league would, in
theory, send one team to the
football quarter-finals, two to
the basketball playoffs and one
to the baseball quartofinals.
District 8-A-l would fiave a
quota of two teams instead of
three in basketball. Redmond,
Prlneville and Bend, a sub-district
in 8-A-l basketball, would
contend with the 8-A-l runnerup
for No. 2 spoQin the basketball
playoffs.
A new District 2-A-l would
consist of Jesuit,
roseVind six teams that formeMeo to District) 8 iile Silver

Reynolds, Wy'east, Scappoose,
Molalla, Sandy andSilverton.
District l-A-2 will (flow in
