Rogue Valley Scout Council
Elects at Semi-Annual Session
Mrs. T. R. Lytle, Medford, was
re-elected president of Roeue
Valley Girl Scout council Wed
nesday, November 20 at the
council's semi-annual meeting in
Grants Pass. The meeting was
held at Zottola Country club.
Other officers elected at the
meting were Mrs. Richard Grav.
Medford, first vice president,
Mrs. Hugh Moulton, Grants Pass,

third vice-president. Mrs. Mich
ele T. Rossi and Mrs. Scott Davis,
both Medford, were selected as
members at large:
District chairmen for the com
ing two years are Mrs. J. W.
Bradshaw, Ashland, Mrs. Thom
as Eslinger, Medford, and Mrs.
T. M. Deter, West Siskiyou dis
trict, Yreka, Calif. Mrs. Charles
Kudlac, Grants Pass, , remains
chairman of that district.
Mrs. M. N. Hogan. Medford,
was selected as membership
nominating committee chairman
and Mrs. Howard Wiley, Ash
land, will serve on the nominat
ing committee.
Other committee chairmen
selected at the meeting were
Mrs. Gerald Gastineau, Mrs. J. E.
Moir, Thomas Eslinger, Mrs.
J. H. Foster. Mrs. Frank Tam
ney, all Medford, and Ted Ber
gold. Grants Pass.
The invocation was given for
the meeting by the Rev. Robert
Neil of the First Christian
church, Grants Pass. Troop 131
of Grants Pass gave the flag
ceremony.
Mrs. Lytle, who had just re
cently returned from the nation
al Girl Scout convention, gave
a convention report. She stated
that 8400 people attended. "You
Can Count on Her" was an
nounced as the theme of Girl
Scouting for the next three
years.
The registrar, Mrs. Harry
Howard, announced that Girl
Scouts in this area had increased i
their membership by 418 new
active members since last year.
During the lunch hour enter
tainment was provided by a
Grants Pass vocal trio and stu-j
dents of the Daryle Holt school ;
of dance.
The meeting closed with the
film, "The Story of a Brownie
Scout Troop."

Mrs. Addie Wilson, 340 Sonth
Riverside avenue, celebrated
her 88th birthday Monday, No
vember 18. Born in a small log
cabin not far from the present
site of the Medford municipal
airport, Mrs. Wilson is the
daughter of the late John E. Bu-
zan and Lettie Merriman Buzan.
Her maternal grandfather was
the early pioneer, W. H. Merri
man, for whom Merriman road
is named. Lettie Merriman was
five years old when she and her

Miss Marilou Garner arrived
in Medford last week from In
dianola, Iowa, to assume duties
as 4-H county agent for girls.
Miss Garner ..attended ..Central
Missouri State college. Warrens
burg, Mo., and received her
bachelor of science degree from
Iowa State college, Ames. She is
a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha
social sorority and Kappa Omi
cron Phi, home economics hon
orary fraternity. The new agent's
home is in Osborn, Mo., and for
the past two years was county
extension home economist for
Warren county, Iowa.
father arrived in the Rogue Riv
er valley with the Isaac Con
stant wagon train. Her mother
and baby brother had died on
the plains and were buried along
the way.
Mrs. Wilson has lived the ma
jority of her life in the valley
and remembers attending the
celebration in Ashland in 1887
commemorating the completion
of the railroad between Portland
and San Francisco. She mention
ed' that she could easily remem
ber when there was no Medford
and recalls the little cigar box
that J. S. Howard used for the
first Medford, post office.
Mrs. Wilson is in good health
and still does all of her own
housework.

buy. These three foods will be
the most critical tests of pleas
ing color in china.
Stuff About Stuffing
Stuffing should be removed
from the turkey soon after serv
ing and kept in a covered dish
in the refrigerator. It spoils
very quickly if kept at room
temperature for a period of
time. Use left over stuffing
within two days.
