Widow's Mile
Sermon Topic .
For Advenlisls
The New Testament story of
the "widow's mite" will be re
called In the Rogue Valley's
Seventh-day Adventist churches
Saturday when members will
climax a week of prayer and
rededication by a "day of sacri
fice." The sacrificial offering taken
annually in the denomination's
churches throughtout the world
at the Thanksgiving season is
designated to help church mem
berg re-live through personal
sacrificial contributions the days
of the early Christian church
when the" needs of the church
took precedence - over the com
mon comforts of the individual.
Funds received from the of
fering taken at the 11 a.m. wor
ship service will be used "to
give help to people who do not
know what it is to live as most
of us do, according to Pastor
John Trude of the Medford
church.
"A hospital deep In the jungle
of East Africa, or a mobile clinic
In the thin-air highlands of Ne
pal might receive these funds,"
he said, "but the spirit of sacri
fice with which they will be
given is the most important as
pect of the giving. Today's Chris
tians need more and more to
realize that a sacrificing spirit
will do much to win others to
Christianity."
Miss Dorothea Van Gundy of
the International Nutrition and
Research Foundation, Arlington,
Calif., will speak in the Medford
Seventh-day Adventist church at
3:30 p.m. Saturday. Her sub
ject will be "Divine Healing."

"iiaifl A-i-'
"O come, let us sing to the Lord ; let us make a joy
ful noise to the rock of our salvation ! Let us come into
his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful
noise to him with songs of praise ! For the Lord is a
great God, and a great King above all gods. In his
hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the
mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it;
for his hands formed the diy land.
"O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel
before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and
we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his
hand." Psalms 95:1-7.

New York Towns Use
French on Signs
Albany, N. Y. (IP) - North
ern New York, by virtue of its
nearness to Canada, does a
rather large tourist business
with French-speaking persons.
As a result, many business
men have tacked up signs read
ing "Ici on parle francais," let
ting potential customers know
that French is spoken on the
premises.
But one operator, north of
Elizabethtown, apparently has
more confidence in his cooking
than in his French. His sign
reads "Nous ne parlons pas fran
cais bien; voulez-vous essayez
notre cuisine?"
Translation: "We do not speak
French well, but will you try
our cooking.?"
