dicted a $50 million surplus at

diate penal institution here, forc
ing the appeal for more money.
Rep. George Annala, Hood
River Democrat, voted against
the measure and said he would
continue to oppose more money
for the emergency board until
a better system of estimating the
costs of the institution building
was devised.
The emergency board fund is
designed to meet unexpected de
mands for money when the Leg
islature is not in session.

Fire Destroys Cabin
At Cave Junction Motel
Cave Junction .Damage es

in Cave Junction.
A 24-by-24-foot cabin near the
Redwood highway was destroy
ed when fire swept through the
building about 2 a.m. Although
rented by two employees of
West Coast Steel company, no
one was in the cabin at the time
of the blaze, and all personal
belongings were lost.
