Oui of Party Post
London (IP) Reliable reports
from Moscow said, Thursday it
now is almost certain that Mar
shal Georgi Zhuljpv has been
dropped from his Communist
party posts following his release
as Soviet defense minister.
An official announcement from
Moscow on this may be im
minent, the reports said, or it
could be delayed for up to
several days.
But there was no indication
thus far of Zhukov's new job,
which Soviet Communist party
boss Nikita Khrushchev said
Tuesday would correspond to the
famed soldier's "experience and
qualifications."
According to the reliable re
ports, the Central Committee! of
the Communist party, after
lengthy debate, decided to drop
Zhukov from the 15-member
Presidium to which he had been
elected only last July.

Air Force
To Keep Missile Program at Full Steam
Washington OP) The Air
Force, determined to keep mis

grams operating full blast, was
forced today into making further
sacrifices in less crucial activi
ties. The cutbacks, coming on top
of recent economy reductions,
are necessary to make up in
creased costs in missile-plane
purchases of $800 million since
last January.
An Air Force spokesman dis
closed that the rise, amounting
to almost 10 per cent of the
entire program, was due to
higher labor and material costs.
Part also resulted from too low
estimates in the budget Presi
dent Eisenhower submitted to
Congress at the beginning of the
year.
Costs High
The cost of the program now
totals $9,600,000,000 more than
half the entire Air Force budget
of $18,200,000,000.
Eisenhower, meanwhile, hud

P. Anderson (D-N.M.) chairman
of the Joint Congressional Atom
ic Energy Committee, raised
serious doubts about the wisdom
of Eisenhower's proposed plan
to share U.S. atomic and weap
ons secrets with Britain and
other NATO nations.
Anderson said the U.S. should
"work with them in every pos
sible way." But he wants to
make certain no U.S. secrets
find their way into Soviet hands.
Follow Earlier Cuts
The new Air Force cutbacks
followed a number of economy
moves this year. These included
elimination of a number of jet
fighter and reserve groups,
stretch-outs in jet plane and B52
heavy bomber production and a
reduction in civilian employ
ment. Defense officials have approv
ed a three-point plan for making
up the $800 million Air Force
procurement deficit:
A further slowdown or cut
back in a number of activities
to make more funds available
for missile and plane purchases.
