Family Returns From Idaho

Phoenix Mrs. Guy Cobleigh
and her son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Coggins, of
Medford, returned last Friday
after a weeks' visit with another
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. George Wehmann, in Idaho
Falls, Idaho. While there they
went to the Teton mountains
and Jackson Hole in Wyoming,
and took in other places of in
terest in Wyoming and Idaho.
Firt Lt. Gary Denzer left Mon
day to return to his base at
Ogden, Utah, after spending a
10-day furlough visiting rela
tives and going hunting. Ac
companying him on his hunting
trip to Yamsey mountain in east
ern Oregon were Frank Denzer
and Bert Stancliffe.
Donald Mitchell, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Mitchell, has
been on the teaching staff part
time at the high school since
the fall term began.
Mrs. B. A. Montgomery left
Thursday morning with Mrs.
John Miller for Caruthers, Calif.,
to visit in the Miller home. Mrs.
Miller was here for the funeral
last week of her father, B. A
Montgomery. Mrs. Montgomery
plans to go to Texas a little
later.
Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Vroman
are at home after a two week's
honeymoon trip to Prescott,
Ariz., Anaheim, Calif., and Los
Angeles, Calif. Mrs. Vroman is
the former Mrs. Leona Crane
and is a retired school teacher.

Phoenix Grange
Phoenix Grange met Tues
day, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. Lecturer
Ethel Carr announced the pro
gram put on by the legislative
committee would precede the
business meeting and was open
to the public. Melvin Lattie,
chairman of the committee,
spoke briefly concerning the
object of the. program, and in
troduced Harry Martin and Al
bert Straus, office manager and
committeeman, respectively, of
the Agricultural Stabilization and
Conservation program known as
the ASCP.
Martin gave an informative
talk on the soil bank and soil
conservation, and what it should
mean to farmers of Jackson
county, although of the five
basic crops which come under
the Soil Bank and Conservation
Act, only wheat is grown in
this county. He told how it
could benefit those farmers tak
ing advantage of the opportuni
ties provided by the program,
and how to proceed in obtain
ing the benefits. His talk was
illustrated by slides shown by
Straus. Some time was devoted
to a question and answer period.
Following which a little en
tertainment was provided by
Barney Lewin with some "slight
of hand" tricks. The art of "mak
ing money" was illustrated with
the assistance of Mark Norton.
Grange meeting was called to
order at 9 p.m. with all officers
present, excepting Musician
Florence Hartley. Mrs. Vaughn
Quackenbush substituted for her.
Albert Straus, master of Sams
Valley Grange, was escorted to
the Master's station, and Harry
Martin, who is a member of
Roxy Ann Grange, remained for
the meeting, and both spoke
briefly.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd White
sides were obligated in the first
and second degrees.
An old family album and very
old scrapbook, property of the
Mark Nortons were on the dis
play table, and created a great
deal of interest.
Regarding the resolution from
Baker district Pomona, which
concerned depreciation of prop
erty and taxation, the commit
tee gave their report as favor
able, and the Grange voted their
approval of same. The resolu
tion will be presented to Po
mona Grange, which meets Sat
urday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. at
Phoenix Grange hall. Judging
of canned fruit and jelly will
be held at 10:30 and all entries
must be accompanied by a White
Satin sugar sack and name, ad
dress and Grange . of the con
testant, according to Mrs. Olin
Poe, district HEC chairman.

London (IP) Radio Moscow
reported today that one of Rus
sia's TU-104 jet airliners has
made a test run over a proposed
Moscow-Kamchatka air route
which would be the longest in
Russia. The broadcast said regu
lar service on the route will
begin next week.

No bid will be considered unless

favor of the State of Oregon and
the Oregon State Board of Higher
Education, in an amount not less
than ten percent of the total amount

o'clock A.M., at the front door of the

auction for cash to the highest bid

ser and Myrtle Criteser in the follow

4 West of the Willamette Meri
dian, in Jackson Countv, Oregon;
thence North 420.0 feet; thence
East 530.0 feet; thence South
420.0 feet; and thence West 530.0
feet to the point of beginning;
also, the Southwest Quarter of
the Northwest Quarter of Section
5 in Township 34 South, Range 4
4 West of the Willamette Meri
dian, in Jackson Countv, Oregon;
EXCEPTING THEREFROM the

Southeast corner of the South
west Quarter of the Northwest

Said sale is made pursuant to an
Execution in Foreclosure, issued out
of the Circuit Court of the State of
Oregon, for Jackson County, on the
8th day of October 1957, in which
W. G. Williams and F. T. Williams
are plaintiffs and Guy W. Criteser
and Myrtle Criteser, his wife, are
defendants.
