Vorduhoy (perhaps literally
"corde du roi" the
king's cord) has come of
age! For centuries synonymous
with work clothes, corduroy for
some time has been associated
with children's durable clothing.
In the last decade or so it has
been used extensively for sports
wear; and today, royally treated,
we find corduroy the fashion for
sophisticated after-dark apparel.
In wide and fine wales, vertical
ly or horizontally placed, worn
long or short, corduroy is very
much in style.
1. Blair's ankle-length dinner
skirt of wide-wale corduroy has
slanting hip pockets ($37). The
perfect companion is a full
sleeved cotton chiffon blouse, so
feminine with generously pro
portioned bow tied at the
plunged neckline ($23).
