bracing about 430 acres located in a
general sale area of 3,700 acres, more

est, Oregon. The estimated volumes
are 5,800 M board feet of Douglas-fir,
7,700 M board feet of all species of
pine, 1,100 M board feet of white fir

the crime. The jury had been
out about 45 minutes when Bir
die Mae Morris, Negro woman,

the defendant, Freddie Mae Ben
nett, acquitted.

Infant Found in Pew
Of Church at Astoria
Astoria (IP) An infant girl
believed to be about one day
old, was found here Tuesday in
a back pew of St. Mary s Catn-
olic chuch.
Mrs. Frances McKenna, house
keeper at the church rectory, re
ceived an anonymous phone call
reporting that the baby had been
left at the church and said the
mother wanted it placed for
adoption. Police launched an in
vestigation and the child was
hospitalized. Attendants said it
was in good health.
FLU KILLS 150
Frankfurt, Germany (tPl The

Europe has caused at least 150
deaths and hospitalized thous

many, health officials reported
today. The U. S. Air Force in
Europe reported 8,096 cases of
the illness, and the U. S. Army
said 9,500 soldiers have been-
