iCclly-McCabe Marriage Ceremony Held at Sacred Heart Church
Mrs. Bernard P. Kelly, the former Sylvia McCabe,
wore a period gown of handmade Venetian point
lace for her marriage Saturday, October 5, at Sac
red Heart Catholic church hfre. The bride is a
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John M. McCabe, 1909
East Main street, and the bridegroom is the elder
son of Judge and Mrs. Edward C. Kelly. 906 West
Fourth street, Medford. The newlyweds are shown
at the altar of the church immediately following
the ceremony. The reception was held at Rogue
Valley Country club for 250 guests and the bride
and bridegroom are pictured below greeting guests.
At the bridegroom's left stands Mrs. Robert Rever-
man, Roseburg, the former Margo Lageson of Med
ford, and Miss Anne Rowland, Seattle, two of the
bride's seven attendants. Also in the wedding party
were small Martha and Catherine Cooney, the
bride's nieces, wearing frocks of imported Eior

The nuptial mass was cele
brated by the Rev. William Mc
Leod at 10:30 o'clock in the
Biorning, and the reception was
held at Rogue Valley Country
rlub. About 250 guests attended.
The bride wore a gown of
exquisite hand made Venetian
point lace over satin which had
been worn by her sister. Eleanor,
now Mrs. John Cooney. and
three of her cousins. Of egg
shell color, the gown is fash
ioned with short sleeves, neck
line rounding in front and point
ing to a vee in back, and gently
flared satin-edged skirt falling
into a brief train. The lace de
sign forms a panel from neck
to hemline in front.
Her head-covering was a small
lace cap holding a short veil of
silk illusion and she carried a
cascade bouquet of white roses
and lily-of-the-valley.
Mrs. Cooney was honor at
tendant for her sister and ad
ditional attendants were Miss
Noreen Kelly, sister of the bride
groom. Mrs. Robert Reverman
(Margo Lageson), Roseburg. Miss
Clarise Wirth and Miss Anne
Rawland. both Seattle. They
wore frocks of red chiffon with
satin cummerbunds, matching
hats of feathers and satin and
shoes of the same color. Their
French nosegays were of step
hanotis. The bride's two small nieces,
Martha and Catherine Cooney,
were junior attendants. They
wore frocks of imported vel
veteen in Dior blue with match
ing hats and miniscule veils,
and carried tiny bouquets of
stephanotis.
Mr. Cooney escorted his daugh
ter to the altar, and James Kelly
was his brother's best man.
Ushers were Mr. Cooney. brolh-er-in-law
of the bride. William
Deatherage and John Shephard,
Portland.
Miss Phyllis Corliss and Mr.
Cooney sang for the wedding,
and Bruno Pellegrini was at the
church organ.
For the wedding and reception
the bride's mother wore a sheath
dress of wool crepe in Dior blue
with purse of the same material,
a picture hat of white feathers
and corsage of white spider
chrysanthemums. The bride
groom's mother wore a sheath
dress of emerald green silk
crepe, a cloche hat of harmoniz
ing sequins and her flowers were
lavender pompon chrysanthe
mums. Pouring for the reception were
Mrs. Moore Hamilton, Mrs. Han
ley Heffernan, Mrs. Joseph T.
Anthony. Mrs. John Elwell. aunt
of the bride from Billings, Mont.,
Mrs. E. B. Hanley. Mrs. Alvin
Tollefson. Myrtle Creek. Ore
Mrs. C. Rease Braley and Mrs.
Lewis Ulrich.
Mrs. Paul McDuffee and Mrs.
John Hauf. cousin of the bride
! from Billings, Mont., cut the
wedding cake and serving it
were Mrs. Burtis Meyer, cousin
of the bride from Palo Alto,
Calif., Mrs. Harry Belgrade, an
other cousin. San Anselmo.
Calif.. Mrs. E. H. Hedrick and
Miss Anne Kelly, cousin of the
bridegroom from Myrtle Creek.
Miss Sandra Paquin took charge
of the guest book, and Elnora
and Emily Kelly, young twin
cousins of the bridegroom from
Myrtle Creek, passed rice.
A buffet luncheon was served,
and Abby Green provided music.
The bride's table was arranged
with pink ribbons and roses, and
silver candlesticks held white
tapers. The wedding cake was
decorated with fresh roses. The
punch tables were decorated
with baby roses and maidenhair
fern, and the coffee table held
pink carnations.
Mr. Kelly and his bride are
spending a honeymoon in San
Francisco and California coastal
j resorts. For traveling the bride
i wore a knit suit of American
beauty red with black accessories

monthly meeting of Medford So
journers. Dessert was served.
Mrs. Floyd Robertson presided
at the short business meeting
which followed the refresh
ments. Mrs. John Niss. Los An
geles, was the only out-of-town
guest.
Mrs. Preston Hobbs. Mrs. Jer
ry Stubbs and Mrs. Ronald A.
Hale were introduced and wel
comed as new members. Mrs. E.
C. Robinson, Mrs. C. K. Edwards,
Mrs. Dwight Crossier, Mrs. Don
ald E. Walters and Mrs. John
Mast were announced as pros
pective members.
After the business meeting the
group played cards. Mrs. W. J.
Williams and Mrs. A. B. Davis
were winners at bridge. Mrs.
Mabel Wright and Mrs. Gene
Chamberlain were pinochle win
ners and Mrs. Henry Robertson
and Mrs. John Mansfield win
ners at canasta.
Hostesses for the afternoon
were Mrs. Berg Marten., Mrs.
Leona McClure and Mrs. Marvin
Nelson.
A special prize went to Mrs.
L. E. McConnell.
and a corsage of crcdm colored
cymbidium orchids. They will
be at home after November 1 at
the Plaza apartments.
The bride is a graduate of Se
attle university in Washington,
and the bridegroom, a graduate
of the University of Oregon Law
school, is associated in law prac
tice here with his sister, Miss
Noreen Kelly.

man to Royal Ward Bebb which
took place in San Francisco
Sunday, September 29. The
bride is a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. George Robert Boardman,
Sacramento, Calif., and the
bridegroom's parents are Mr.
and Mrs. Royal E. Bebb, 528
South Grape street, Medford.
The ceremony was read at
3:30 o'clock in the afternoon by
the Very Rev. C. Julian Bart
lett, dean of Grace Episcopal
cathedral, at the cathedral. The
bridegroom has been a member
of the cathedral congregation
since making his home in San
Francisco.
Mr. Boardman gave his
daughter in marriage. She wore
a powder blue ensemble with
matching veil-hat and shoes and
two orchid-throated white or
chids. She carried a prayer
book.
Mrs. Arthur J. Engelbart, of
San Francisco was the bride's
only attendant, and Mr. Engel
bart, a fraternity brother of the
bridegroom, was his best man.
Richard I. Purvis, the cathe
dral organist, provided the wed
ding music. Following the mar
riage service, Mr. and Mrs.
Boardman were hosts for a
small reception at the Mark
Hopkins hotel. Saturday evening
before the wedding the Board
mans entertained the wedding
party and relatives at a dinner
at the Fairmount hotel.
Mr. Bebb and his bride spent
their honeymoon in the Carmel
valley, and are now at home at
the Tilton Arms, 100 Elm ave
nue, San Mateo, Calif. During
their stay in Carmel they were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. James
Towne, formerly of Medford
and now of Pebble Beach, Calif.,
for dinner at the Monterey Pe
ninsula Country club.
The bride is a graduate of
San Francisco State college and
the bridegroom is a graduate

was Philip Getchell, Medford,
who is now a student at Church
Divinity School of the Pacific,
Berkeley, Calif.
Mr. and IMrs. Bebb were in
San Francisco for their son's
wedding.
The special meeting of the
Medford Garden club, called for
October 14, at the courthouse
auditorium, has been postponed.
It was previously planned to
discuss the newly adopted by
laws of the Oregon Federation
of Garden Clubs at the meeting.
