    Gossman-McKibben Wedding
Announced; Pair Lives Here
Gold Hill Miss Donna Rae
McKibben became the bride of
William Albert Gossman in a
ceremony held Friday, Septem
ber 27, in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. George Graham, 4480 Foot
hill boulevard. Grants Pass.
Dexter Williams, pastor of the
Central Church of Christ, Med
ford, officiated at the 7:30
o'clock evening double-ring cere
mony attended by 40 relatives
and friend3.
The bride is a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. J. N. McKibben, route
1, box 89, Gold Hill. The bride
groom is a son of Mrs. Marie
Gossman, Pasadena, Calif., and
F. A. Gossman, Norwalk, Calif.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a white
sheath dress trimmed with rhine
stones, and light blue accesso
ries. Her waist length veil was
white, flecked with silver
threads, and was held with a
tiara of light blue satin ribbon.
She carried a bouquet of white
carnations.
Matron of honor was Mrs. F.
G. Herrington, Gold Hill, a sis
ter of the bride. She wore a
blue full-skirted frock with
white accessories and a white
carnation corsage.
The bride's mother wore a
dark blue nylon frock with
white accessories and a white
carnation corsage.
Raymond Gossman, Central
Point, an uncle of the bride
groom, served as best man.
Among the wedding guests
were the bride's paternal grand
parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Mc
Kibben, Gold Hill, and the
bridegroom's step - grandfather
and grandmother, Mr. and Mrs.
Otto Verthein, Clear Lake,
Calif.
Vases of various colored glad
iolus and roses, and white bas
kets holding arrangements of
light pink to lavender shades of
dahlias and autumn daisies,
mixed with white lace, decorated
the room.
A reception was given by the
bride's mother, Mrs. J. N. Mc
Kibben and Mrs. George Gra
ham at the Graham home follow
ing the ceremony.

The newly weds are living at 41B
Myers court, Medford.
a nephew of the bride, took
charge of the guest book. Mrs.
Tom Britt cut and served the
wedding cake, assisted by Miss
Marjorie West. Mrs. ' Graham
was assisted by Miss Patty Goss
man, cousin of the bridegroom,
at the punch bowl. Mrs. A. M.
Hanshew, Fort Dick, Calif., pre
sidri at the gift table.
lfie newlyweds are now at
home at 41B Myers court in
Medford.
The bride attended the Gold
Hill school and Crater High
school, where she graduated in
June, 1957. She is now employ
ed at the Dairy Freeze in Med
ford. She has been a resident
of Gold Hill for 7 years.
The groom has lived in Cen
tral Point the past two years.
He attended school in Santa
Anna, Calif. He is now with the
Forest Green Detective agency
at White City.

Woman's Society
Gives Scholarships
Woman's Society of Christian
Service of the Oregon confer
ence has awarded a S250 schol
arship to Rachelle Ann Dawson,
it was announced at the last
meeting of the executive com
mittee in Portland. Miss Daw
son, a member of Hughes Memo
rial Methodist church, Portland,
has finished one year at Lewis
and Clark college. She plans to
be a dietitian and has entered
Oregon State college for this
training.
A renewal of a similar schol
arship was made to Evelyn Cro
well who enters Portland State
college this fall for her senior
year in elementary education.
The two scholarships are award
ed annually to students of mi
nority races and are supported
by local Woman's societies
throughout the state.
The next meeting of the west
ern jurisdiction, Woman's Socie
ty of Christian Service, will be
held in 1959 in the Rose City
Park Methodist church, Port
land, it was announced. This ses
sion will include delegates from
the 10 western states, Hawaii
and Alaska.
Three Rogue Valley women
attended the two-day executive
meeting. They were Mrs. Oliver
P. Taylor, conference secretary
of promotion; Mrs. Charles
Adamson. conference secretary
of the Wesleyan Service guild;
and Mrs. A. S. Feller, Camp
White, conference secretary of
missionary education and serv
ice. Following this meeting, Mrs.
Adamson conducted the annual
executive meeting of the Wes
leyan Service guild at which
time final plans were made for
the president's house party to
be held in Medford October 19
and 20.
Meeting Planned
By Presbyterians
. Jacksonville Women's asso
ciation of First Presbyterian
church, Jacksonville, will meet
Tuesday, October 8, at 1 p.m.
at the home of Mrs. Russell Mc-
ilntyre, Jacksonville. She will be
assisted by Mrs. Harold White.
The group will hear a report
from the Presbyterial meeting.
Two County Women Given
Altrusa Vocational Grants
Two Jackson county w6men
have been, awarded vocational
scholarship grants to complete
their teacher education training,
it was announced this week by
Mrs. Enid Rankin, president of
Medford Altrusa club. The club
has sponsored such grants for
four years, awarding them to
older women in need of retrain
ing themselves for employment
after some years away from the
business world.
Mrs. Mildred Marshal, Rogue
River, a senior at" Southern Ore
gon college was given a "Found
ers fund grant'' of S250 from the
vocational aid committee of Al
trusa International at the request
of the local club's vocational
committee, head by Mrs. Maisie
Daly. This grant will enable Mrs.
Marshal to complete the next
year's studies to obtain her bhch
elor of arts degree and her teach
ing certificate.
Mrs. Helen Little, Central
Point, was awarded the local vo
cational grant for 1957, covering
tuition for the summer and fall
terms at SOC whereshe is study
ing to prepare herself for teach
ing. Both these women had one
year of college before their mar
riage and had planned to teach.
Mrs. Marshal, a widow, has
raised seven children and has
one son in high school; Mrs. Lit
tle has three teen age children to
help support.
Six Jackson county women
have been given vocational
grants to refrain themselves for
employment since 1954 when the
first S250 grant was offered by
Medford Altrusa club. The funds
to support this project have been
earned by publishing yearly an
Altrusa place mat, which has on
it a recreational map of Jackson
county with the business ad
dresses of more than 100 inter
ested local firms. This mat is a
gift to tourists, and is also given
away, 10,000 copies each year,
to county ogranizations, church
es, granges and clubs to use at
large dinners or in any other
way desired.

or hotel can obtain these mats
free of charge by calling Mrs.

Mrs. Finley states, that the new
mats printed locally, will be off
the press early next week. Al
trusa club, a classified service
club for business executives and
professional women, points out
that the firms who have sponsor
ed this place mat during the last
four years, have made it possible
for six older women to retrain
themselves for teaching, nursing
and business. Because of the loc
al interest, three women have re
ceived Founders' fund grants
from the international office of
Altrusa, amounting to $750, in
addition to the local fund.
Other national projects of Al
trusa are the grants-in-aid given
to Latin American women and
Asian women who are doing
graduate work in American Uni
versities and colleges.
An international dinner with
foreign foods will be held by
Medford Altrusa club, Thursday,
October 10 at Mon Desir at 7
p.m. This will be first of two
meetings this month with a
United Nations and internation
al relation program.

Margareta Larsdotter-Aulin, ex
change student from Sweden liv
ing this year with Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Bash, Medford. Mrs. Julie
Tummers, co-chairman of the
committee is in charge of the
two programs this month. The
student will talk informally on
the customs of her own country
and will learn about the life of
business and professional women
and their service clubs in this
country.
Mrs. Tummers will be assisted
by her committee, Mrs. Virginia
Sherwood, Miss Ruth Kilbourn
and Mrs. Francis Schuchard.

and Mrs. Edna Mole.
