club there. Mrs. Rankin is also
president of Medford Altrusa
club.
In Salem the Medford woman
will attend the first meeting of
Governor Robert Holmes' newly
organized commission on serv
ices to the aging.

tin II, whose wedding took place
September 23 in Trinity Episco
pal church, Portland, are now
living at 716 South Fourth
street in Corvallis, Ore. Both
are students at Oregon State
college.
The bride is the former Mere
dith Foote, daughter of Mrs.
Ruth Foote, 18 Portland avenue,
Medford, and Don Foote, Sacra
mento, Calif. The bridegroom's
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Sam
uel H. Martin, Portland.
Dr. Langston E. Kempton read
the marriage ceremony at 3:30
o'clock in the afternoon.

mento, Calif., sorority sister of
the bride, nad William Bilder
back, Portland, attended the
couple. Only immediate mem
bers of the two families were
present.
The bride is a member of Pi
Beta Phi sorority, and Mr. Mar
tin's fraternity is Sigma Nu.
Mrs. Martin was graduated
from Medford High school with
the class of 1956, and was class
valedictorian. Mr. Martin was
graduated from Lincoln High
school before entering OSC.

Home From Trip
Mrs. John Wilkinson, 726
South Keeneway, has returned
from a trip to Illinois and Min
nesota. Mrs. Wilkinson traveled
east to Chicago with her daugh
ter, Miss Dolores Wilkinson, who
was returning to St. Louis uni
versity where she is studying
for a master's degree in psychia
tric sociology.
Miss Wilkinson, who studied
at the same university last year
under a scholarship, was award
ed a second $2,000 scholarship
in order to complete her work
for the degree. She was former
ly on the staff of Jackson County
Public Welfare department.
, After leaving Chicago, Mrs.
Wilkinson visited in Joliet, 111.,
and later went to Minnesota. '

Miss Jacqueline Jeanne Loros
became the bride of James Mon
roe Andrews of North High
lands, Calif., in a ceremony held
Saturday, September 28, at St.
Mark's Episcopal church. The
bride is a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Milton A. Loros, 1862 Delta
Waters road, Medford, and the
bridegroom is a son of Mr. and
Mrs. J. M. Andrews, North High
lands. The Rev. George R. V. Bolster
read the marriage service at 8
o'clock in the evening, and Mr.
Loros gave his daughter in mar
riage. The reception which fol
lowed was in the parish hall.
About 100 guests attended.
Mrs. E. C. Conrad played the
wedding music, and John Drys
dale sang.

The bride's veil was loaned by
her sister-in-law, Mrs. Richard
A. Loros and was finger-tip
length with a crown headdress of
seed pearls and lace. She carried
a cascade of white stephanotis
encircling a white orchid on a
white Bible.
Miss Sandra Jean Andrews,
sister of the bridegroom, from
North Highlands, was honor at
tendant and Miss Lynne Andrea
Loros, the bride's sister, was
bridesmaid. Miss Andrews wore
a dress of turquoise polished cot
ton with square neckline and
sash of turquoise and white
polka dots ending in a bustle
iow and sash streamers falling
to the hemline of the very full
skirt. She carried a cascade of
pink baby roses and white chrys
anthemums and wore a head
band of white chrysanthemums.
Miss Loros wore a dress of
pink polished cotton designed
identical to that .worn by Miss
Andrews, with pink and white
polka dot sash and bustle bow.
She carried pink baby roses and
white chrysanthemums, and her
headband was also of white
chrysanthemums.
Richard A. Loros, brother of
the bride, was best man and
usliers were Frederick L. Grif
fith, Kenneth Van Ausdall,
James Tizekker and Ernest Kid
well, Sacramento, Calif.
The church was decorated
with tall baskets of pink and
white gladioli and white chrys
anthemums, and bouquets of
these flowers stood on tne altar.
Tall candelabra held white burn
ing candles, and the pews were
marked with white satin bows
and streamers.
For the reception Mrs. Carl
Oeftreich took cnarge of the gift
table and Miss Donna" Shore and
Miss Florence Robison poured
punch. Miss Margaret Hamilton
and Mrs. H. C. Crofoot cut and
served the wedding cake. Miss
Jean Coppedge tenaed the guest
book.
The bride's table was arranged
with pink roses and tiny blue
birds, white ribbons and white
candles. Baskets of pink and
white gladioli were arranged
about the room.
The bride's mother wore a
slate blue dress with ice blue hat
and black accessories and the
bridegroom's mother wore a
dress of royal blue jersey with
blue hat and black accessories.
Their corsages were purple or
chids. Mr. Andrews and his bride

Oregon coast, the bride wearing
for traveling a royal blue knit
suit witn black patent accessories
and black velvet hat. They will
live in North Highlands. The
bride, a graduate of Medford

Calif. The bridegroom, a gradu
ate of Roseville Union High
school, Roseville, Calif., is with
Pacific Telephone and Tele
graph company.

capping exercises at Glendale
Sanitarium and Hospital school
of nursing in Glendale, Calif.,
September 26. Their daughter,
Miss Saron Jean Merkel, is a
member of the class of 1959 of
the school, and received her cap
during the service.

Maxwell, Ph.D., of the Loma
Linda college of Medical Evan
gelists. Following the presentation of
caps by Louis Brown, R.N.,
and the candle-lighting cere
mony, with Miss Patricia Salas
representing the "Lady of the
Lamp," the class repeated the
Nightingale Pledge and sang.
Open house for the newly
capped nurses and their rela
tives and friends was held at
Rhoda Manning hall following
the service.
The hospital Is owned and
operated by the Seventh-day
Adventist church, and the 42
students in Miss Merkel's class
represent 13 states, 10 colleges,
and 3 foreign countries.

The newly organized Jackson
County Medical Assistants will
hold their next meeting Thurs
da, October 10, in the Pioneer
room of the Jackson hotel at 8
p.m. The purpose of the meet
ing will be to elect permanent
officers and to adopt a constitu

From California
Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Brock
way have returned to their
home on Stewart avenue after a
stay in California with relatives
and friends. The trip south fol
lowed a reunion at their home
