department Monday eased log
ging restrictions in the area.
Most of western Oregon was
reopened for logging at noon
Monday. However, use of power
driven equipment still was out
in the area bounded by the
summit of the Cascades, the
southern boundary of Lane
county, the Columbia river and
the east edge of the Willamette
valley.
A chance of drizzle along the
coast helped ease the minds of
forestry officials but a soaking
rain which could end the fire
danger still was lacking. Dan
ger still was high east of the
mountains.
A small blaze near the coast
in Lincoln county covered three
acres Monday before it was con
trolled. Various types of cancer were
recognized .tnd described by
Hippocrates as early as within
the years of 400 B.C.

In Wreck Near Burns

nessman was killed instantly and
his wife was injured Monday
when their car went over an
80-foot embankment at Stinking
Water grade on Highway 20,
about 40 miles east of here. The
car was demolished.
Dead was Percy Wilson, 66,
of Pasadena.
The dead man's wife, Mary,
was taken to a Burns hospital
with a fractured leg and other
injuries.

were no witnesses to the acci
dent. Rare earth is a chemical term
