Mrs. Turrell was born in
Jackson county Oct. 10, 1898,xa
daughter of Calvin and Eliza
beth Owens. On Dec. 27, 1917,
she was married to Albert Tur
rell, who survives. Also surviv
ing are five children, Mrs. Vern
on Epperson, Tulare, Calif.;
Fred Turrell, Halsey; Vangie,
Grants Pass: Raymond, Central
Point; Donald Turrell, Junction
City; a sister, Mrs. Ina Hoobing
Buhl, Idaho; and 11 grandchil
dren. Pallbearers will be William
Collier, Howard Yokley, Wil
iam Carley; Theodore Hill, E.
Copitts, and Donald Paulson.

Services for Florence V.
Clark, 66, who died Friday in
Ashland, will be held in Ashland
Mortuary Chapel Tuesday at
10 a.m., with the Rev. G. H.
Hillerman of the Medford Zion
Lutherman church officiating.
Burial will be in the Masonic
cemetery. Olympia, Wash.
Mrs. Clark was born April 3,
1891, in McCook county, S.D.
In 1921 she was married to L.
Judson Clark, who died in 1939.
She had lived in Hilts, Calif,
since 1922 except for the last
year she had beenliving in Med
ford. She was a member of the
Lutheran church.
Survivors include two daugh
ters, Mrs. Irene Tallis, Hilts,
Calif, and Mrs. Doris Hassmann,
Medford; a sister, Mrs. S. C.
Halliday, Tacoma, Wash.: a step
son, Arthur Clark, Tacoma,
Wash., and a step-daughter, Mrs.
Hazel Lyons, Idaho, and four
grandchildren.
and Elizabeth Lord Hartley, was
born in Bucyrus, Kans., Dec. 28,
1876. He was married in 1899
in Phoenix, to Anna Tucker,
who survives. Mr. Hartley was
foreman of the W. J. Webster
orchards on the Old Stage road
near Jacksonville over 25 years.
He was a long-time member
of the the First Christian church
and one of those active in erect
ing the present church building.
He was a member also of the
Jacksonville Grange.'
Besides his wife he is sur
vived by two daughters, Mrs.
Mabel Sims, Medford, and Mrs.
Gladys Redford, San Francisco;
three sisters. Miss Ada Hartley,
Ashland, Mrs. Anna Stewart,
Cottage Grove, and Mrs. Mattie
Mechem, Whittier, Calif.; two
grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Ella Munsel, widow
of James R. Munsel, formerly
of Myrtle Point and Jackson
ville, died in Seattle on Friday.
Funeral services are being
held in the Butterworth funeral
home in Seattle and the body is
being sent to Medford for burial
in Siskiyou Memorial park.
Chapel Mortuary is in charge of
local arrangements.
Mr. Munsel died in Jackson
ville on June 4, 1954. Survivors
include two daughters, Mrs.
Hester Applegate, formerly of
Medford, and Mrs. Lila Riese
berg, Coos Bay.

Private services for Ira C.
Jones, 97, of 2325 Stewart ave.,
who died Thursday, will be held
at Conger-Morris at 10 a.m. Tues
day. The Rev. George Roseberry,
of First Methodist church, will
officiate. Committal will be in
Medford Mausoleum.
Mr. Jones was born Nov. 4,
1859, in Dakota county, Minn.,
and had lived in Medford for 20
years. He was married Nov. 4,
1881, in Minneapolis, Minn., to
Mary Peet, who died two years
ago, just after their 74th wed
ding anniversary. He was a mem
ber of the Masonic lodge in
Minot, N.D., was a Rotarian and
a supporter of the Methodist
church.
Survivors include two sons.
Dr. Roland R. Jones, Pasadena,
Calif.; Norris C. Jones, Minne
apolis, Minn.; three daughters,
Mrs. A. E. Brockway, Medford;
Mrs. Clyde Thomas, Monterey
Park, Calif.; and Mrs. Ralph E.
Waldron, Vallejo, Calif.; 16
grandchildren and 28 great
grandchildren, as well as many
nieces and nephews.

at the Perl funeral home for
Mr. Fern Johnson, route 1, Box
207, Rogue River, who died Sat
urday morning.

foreign roadster with her conventional-sized
car. She said she
heard a "crunching" noise but
explained, "I thought I had
run over a cardboard box."

J. Kounz, 71, who died at his
home, 805 Taylor st., Thursday,
will be conducted at 10 a. m.
Tuesday in Chapel Mortuary
with T. R. Thompson of Jehov
ah's Witnesses officiating. Burial
will be in Siskiyou Memorial
park.

ers be Sent for the services.
Mr. Kounz, son of August and
Louise Lockner Kuntz, was born
in Maliard, la., on June 15, 1886.
On July 16, 1913, in Fargo,
N. D., he was married to Jessie
Wright, who survives. The fam
ily came frbm Vista, Calif., to
Medford about 12 years ago and
Mr. Kounz was well known here
as chef of the Rogue Valley
Country club.
He was a member of Jehovah's
Witnesses. He was also an active i
Mason, having received the hon
orary 33rd degree, and having
been named honorary Worship
ful Master of the Masonic lodge
in Waco, Tex. For over 30 years
he was a member of Starr King
Lodge No. 344, A. F. & A. M.,
in San Francisco, and was also
a member of the Scottish Rite
temple there.
Besides his wife, he is surviv
ed by one son, Monte J. Kounz,
Medford; two brothers, Charles
Kuntz and August Kuntz, both
of Dubuque, la.; three sisters,
Mrs. Birtha Hughes, Fort Dodge,
la., Mrs. Luella Powell, Du
buque, and Mrs. Etta Keller, Ad
miral, Saskatchewan province,
Canada; and three grandchil
dren, Mark, Ann, and Rebecca
Kounz, all of Medford.

of Oregon and Colorado School
of Mines.

Macy E. Overstreet, son of

naval amphibious base, Norfolk,
Va., from Aug. 2 to 23 learning
the operation of amphibious
landing craft.
Overstreet is a midshipman
second class In the Navy and
was one of 700 Naval Reserve
Officer Training corps midship
men to receive the three week
indoctrination.
