CENTRAL POINT
Church Scene0 of Festival

Central Point The Church of
Christ at the corner of Third
and Oak streets in Central Point
held their Harvest Festival, Sun
day, Aug. 25. The church was
decorated with garden produce
and canned vegetables, fruits,
jams and jellies. Some of these
products will be sent to the Old
People's home at Beavcrton and
gome will be used to replenish
the "cupboard" at the church.
There were 191 people attend
ing the Bible School service and
110 attended the Harvest Festi
val picnic, which was held later
that day in the Centra) Point
city park. Jean Shelley is the
minister of the Church of Christ.
Official registration days for
Crater High school will be
Thursday and Frida. , Sept. 5
and 6. Each day students may
register between the hours of 9
a.m. and noon and in the after
noon from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
For the benefit of those students
who are working, there will be
a period for registration on
these two evenings, between
the hours of 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
School principal, Arthur Straus
especially requested the fresh
men to register on Thursday.
Superintendent H. P. Jewett
spent last Friday and Saturday
in Eugene, Corvallis aid Port
land, interviewing teachers to
fill vecancies at Crater High
school. -
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wyatt
and sons returned recently
from a weeks vacation spent in
Portland visiting relatives and
friends.
Recent guests at the home of
his parents, the John Clarks, of
Central Point, were Mr. and
Mrs. Rollie Clark of Seattle.
While the Clarks were in South
ern Oregon, they took a trip to
Diamond late.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Britton and
daughter, Karon, drove to Val
lejo, Calif., Thursday evening,
where they met Mrs. Britton's
sister and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Carter, of Levelland,
Texas. They also met Mrs. Brit
ton's mother, Mrs. Mary Pope of
Manitou, Okla. The group vis
ited with relatives in Vallejo,
then after a sight-seeing tour of
San Francisco, Mrs. Mary Pope
returned to Central Point for a
visit with the Brittons.
Meyers will teach band. Mrs.
Helen Caster will be the librar
ian, Mrs. Joyce Decker will be
the office secretary, Mrs. Violet 1
Woods will be the cook, assisted
by Mrs. Michaels. Custodians
are Glenn, Hugo Ford. Cleo
Young and Clark McDowell.
Charles A. Meyer is school principal.
Mr. and Mrs. T. V. Thomas,
former Central Point residents,
who have been living in Alba,
Mo., are now visiting relatives :
and friends in the Central Point ,
area. The Thomases plan to
make their home here.

Richard Salmon and Wanda !
Woods spent the day Saturday ',
with the Lawrence Leonard
family attending the fair.
Mr. and Mrs. John Smock re
cently returned from a two j
week's vacation, spent in
Seattle. They visited relatives
and also visited Mr. and Mrs. !
Cecil Sharp of Dayton. The
Sharps are fomer Central Point
residents.
New owners of the Central
Point Laundramat are Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Teets. The Teets, who
formerly lived in Phoenix, now
live at 49 S. Second street in
Central Point. Teets operates
the Union station at Camp
White. Mrs. Teets will operate
the Laundramat.
Central Point Grade school
will begin with a full day of
school, Monday, Sept. 9. The
cafeteria will be open. Buses
will begin with the same sched
ule which was in effect at the
end of last term. Students in
grade three whose- last name
initials begin with "A-C" will
register witu Mrs. Artha Metz;
"D-H" in room 2 (teacher's name
will be announced); "I-M" with
Mrs. Lois Webb; "N-S" with
Mrs. Mildred DeWitt; "T-Z"
with Mrs. Ruby Downing.
In grade four, registration
rooms are "A-C" with Mrs. Lois
Sullivan; "D-H" with Mrs. Lou
isa Cane; "I-N" with Mrs. Mar
guerite Black; "N-S" with Mrs.
Gloria Johnson; "T-Z" with Mrs.
Catherine McDonald.
In .grade five, "A-C" with Mr.
Wesley Claflin; "D-H" with Mrs.
Maurine Shore; "I-M" with Mr.
Elgan Amidon; "M-S" with Mrs.
Laura Patterson; "T-Z" with
Mrs. Willctte McLarrin.
In grade six, "A-D" with Mrs.
Viola Laird; "E-K" with Mr.
Donald McLarrin; "L-O" with
Mrs. Letha Backes; "P-Z" with
Mrs. Grace Brownlee.

music for grades three through

went to Sacramento recently.

Kottke's mother, Mrs. B. Green
slit, who had been visiting for
three weeks at the home of T.
Sgt. Howell and family.
Guests Tuesday evening at
the L. L. Kottke home were Mr.
and Mrs. Ole Hurd and Mr. and
Mrs. Jim O'Brien of Minneap
olis, Minn.
Mr. and Mrs. Jean Shelley
and six children returned Friday ,
after a two weeks camping trip :
near Florence, Ore.
Bill Painter, youth minister
for the summer a the Church of
Christ, will leave after next
Sunday for California. He will
enter the San Jose Bible college
for his third term. Going with
Painter will be Calvin Dixon, I
who will begin his first term at
