has managed the local.store for
the past 15 years and recently
sold it to Gin and Remo Trinca,
owners of the State Liie ierv
ice, and has accepted a position
with a firm in Redding where
he and his family will live.
After the dinner friends went
to the new recreation hall at
the Community center, where
gifts were presented to the fam
ily. In addition to local residents
atteiding, salesmen, their wives
and families, and former resi
dents of this community now
living in nearby towns also at
tended,. Mr. and Mrs. John James and
girls of Oakland and Mr. and
Mrs. Jake Lindner and daughter
of M. Shasta attended a family
picnic and barbecue at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Seif Sun
day. Mr. James and Mrs. Lind
ner are the Seif's daughters.
Chad Peery, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Perry of Yreka,
spent several days at the Victor
Vande Weghe home last week.
Tuesday visitors at the Louis
Dittmar home were Mr. and
Mrs. Lester Lustenberger of San
Francisco, Calif.
Spending a week end at their
cabin on Evans creek were Mr.
and Mrs. J. R. Smith and daughters.
Mrs. Joe Caston, who fell at
her home Friday, was in Yreka
Wednesday to receive medical
treatment.
A3c Tom Mills who is sta
tioned at Steads Air Force base
near Reno, Nev., was a week end
visitor at the home of his par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mills,
and brother Freddie.
Week end visitors at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Vande
Weghe were Mr. and Mrs. Her
bert Stickney and daughters of
San Mateo. They returned home
Sunday evening. Other' visitors
on Saturday and Sunday were
Mr. and Mrs. Chris Wolff of
Medford and Mr. and Mrs. Le
land Stickney, also of Medford.
Approximately 40 children are
attending the Red Cross swim
ming instrucion at the city pool
in Yreka. Transportation is fur
nished by the school bus, driven
by Mario Michelon. Each day
two mothers accompany the children.
Fred Haynes underwent sur
gery Tuesday at the St. Francis
hospital in San Francisco, Calif.,
and at the latest reports is get
ting along as well as can be ex
pected. Mrs. Haynes accompa
nied her husband to San Francisco.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold McFerrin
of Redding were week end vis
itors at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Ernest Spannaus.
Mrs. James Cain and children
of Ashland visited friends here
Thursday.
Mrs. Roy Runsey of Ashland
was calling on friends here Fri

A son was born to Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Smith Wednesday,
Aug. 7, at the Siskiyou County
and General hospital. He has
been named William Shane.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fish Barbera
and Mrs. A. Barbera of Redding
visited at the John Barbera
home this week end.
Mr. and Mrs. Donivan Ward
and daughter attended the bap
tismal ceremony for the young
est son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
De Voe in Medford Friday. Don
ivan Ward is godfather and Judy
Gilcrist of Klamath Falls is
godmother of young John Lloyd.

and daughter. Crab is Mrs.

prey, a killer of Lake Superior
trout, is being electrocuted. Elec
tric traps have been set in north
ern Minnesota and Wisconsin
streams in which the lamprey
spawn. More than 1,500 lamprey
have been taken in a single day
