concert t-iay at the Festival
theater in Ashland, starting at
fcp.n. Pe-classic dance-forms,
similar to those that were popu
lar in Ezabethan Fngland, will
O d presented under the direction
of Marcia TJayer, festival cho
reographer. The dancers, all
numbers of the 1957 company,
will be in costume.
Numbers will include several
ancient country dances seen for
centuries in English villages.
The remainder of the program
will highlight original choreog
raphy by Mrs. Thayer, who also
will narrate the performance.
Music is to be provided by W.
Bernard Windt, festival music
director? and will include accom-
paniments by tabor and chant,
w recorders, the lute, and the

Included in the program will
be court dances in a mood of
splendor, such as the well-known
pavane and minuet; lively
dances lifc? the gigue; and more
unusual dances, such as the

This dance concert provides
audiences with an opportunity
to see dances that are seldom
performed today, but are the
basis for the ballet, folk, and
square dancing of our age.
This season's' production
schedule offers dancing in all
of the plays, plus performances
by the dancers-on-the-grecn pri
or to play time.
Mrs. Thayer studied pre-class-ic
dance forms under Eleanor
Lauer and Marian Van Tuyl at
Mills college.
Admission for the event is 50
cents.
Sojourners Plan

Sojourners will meet in the
Pythian hall Thursday, August
22, at 12:30 p.m.
New year books will be dis
tributed. All women who have been in
the valley less than two years
are cordially invited to attend.

In First Methodist Church
First Methodist church, Medford, was the setting Sunday,
August 4, for the three o'clock afternoon wedding of Miss. JoAnn
Agnes Doe and Guy Hastings Parker. The bride is a daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Paul R. Doe of Prospect. The bridegroom is a
son of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Parker, 1467 South Stage road, Medford.

mony attended by 100 relatives
and guests. .'Pink and white
gladiolus decorated the church
and parlors for the wedding and
reception which followed.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a waltz
length white satin brocade
frock. Her fingertip length veil
fell from a crown of seed pearls
and she carried a bouquet of
white -carnations" encircling a
white orchid.
Miss Kathy Ritchey was honor
attendant while bridesmaids
were Miss Billie Jo Greear and
Miss Raydene Chisum. They
wore dresses of crystalette
styled on princess lines and car
ried bouquets of white and col
ored carnations. Their head
bands were of flowers. Miss
Richey was in pink and carried
blue flowers while the other
attendants wore aquamarine and
carried pink flowers.
Bruce Parker served as best
man for his brother while
Michael Clifford and Jared
Black seated the guests.
For her daughter's wedding
Mrs. Doe wore a slate blue dress
with ice blue accessories. Mrs.
Parker chose a light brown lace
frock with matching accessories.
Their corsages were of gladiolus.
Mrs. Ray Griffin, aunt of the
bride, cut and served the wed
ding cake at the reception using
Mrs. W. J. Warner's heirloom
knife. Mrs. Richard Doe, another

Dr. and Mrs. George Hollings
head of Montclair, N. J., are
spending two weeks in Medford
as guests of Dr. and Mrs. W. W.
Howard, 1507 West Main street.
Mrs. Hollingshead is a niece of
Dr. Howard.
The visitors attended a pre
sentation of "Othello" by the
Oregon Shakespearean festival
company last week. From here
they will go to Salem to visit
Dr. Hollingshead's brother, and
from there will return east by
air.

The bride is a graduate of
Medford High school. The bride
groom also attended Medford
High school and is employed by
Jackson county.
Following a wedding trip to
Seattle the newlyweds will
make their home at 941 Mt. Pitt
avenue. For her traveling attire
the bride chose a pink dress
with matching jacket and black
and white accessories.

Cellura was honored at a sur
prise miscellaneous wedding
shower given by Mrs. Leo Cel
lura at the home of Mrs. Mary
Cellura Wednesday evening.
The room was decorated in pink
and white, with an umbrella
suspended from the ceiling to
which pink and white streamers
were attached. Pink and white
cakes were served.
Forty guests attended the
event.
Miss Cellura is the bride-
elect of James Higinbotham, and
the wedding is set for September
1. Both Miss Cellura and her
fiance reside in Central Point.
Friday evening a miscellane
ous wedding shower was given
at the Community Bible church,
honoring Miss Verna Barrett of
Eagle Point and Harold Leffler
oi San Gabriel, Calif. Approxi
mately 35 people attended the
event.
Miss Carrol Sinyard, bride
elect of Airman Elvice Snow,
was honored at a bridal shower
Thursday evening. The shower
was given at the home of Mrs.
Richard Larson. Hostesses for
the event were Miss Vicki Work
man and Miss Melba Tucker.
The "cake was decorated with
sweet peas and two tiny doves
holding a wedding ring.
Thirty-eight people attended
the party.

held-Saturday, August 17, in
Rose City Park Methodist
church, Portland. The bride is
a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Har
old Jacob DeWilde,- Portland.
The bridegroom is a son of Mrs.
C. W. Ashpole, formerly of Med
ford and now living in Pocatello,
Idaho, and the late Mr. Ashpole.
Dr. Roy A. Fedje officiated at
the 8 o'clock evening ceremony
attended by 130 relatives and
friends.
Given in marriage by her fath
er, the bride wore a ballerina
length gown of white French
chantilly lace over misted taf
feta and her fingertip length veil
was held by a seed pearl and
crested lace cap. She carried a
bouquet of white phalenopsis or
chids and stephanotis.
Miss Arlene Hardt was maid
of honor. She wore a ballerina
length frock of amethyst col
ored peau d'soie and carried a
bouquet of blue and amethyst
gladiolus and delphinium. Miss
Donna Glaske and Miss Cheryl
McCutchan, bridesmaids, were
dressed like Miss Hardt.
Donald Ashpole served as best
man while Jack Pocock and
Stanley Purcell seated the
guests.
Following the ceremony a re
ception was held at the church.
The bride is a graduate of the
University of Oregon and is a
member of Delta Gamma social
sorority. The bridegroom at
tended Oregon State college
where he was affiliated with Phi
Sigma Kappa, social fraternity,
and is now a student at the Uni
versity of Oregon.
The newlywed couple will
make their home in Eugene after
August 28.

man Elvice Snow. The Rev.
Kurt Snider, grandfather of the
bride, officiated at the. cere
mony. The bride, a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Carrol Sinyard of Ok
lahoma City, Okla., has been
making her home in Central
Point. The bridegroom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Larson, Central Point.

panied Maynard Hadley, soloist.
The church was decorated with
pink roses and tall baskets of
white and yellow gladiolus. Mrs.

was given in marriage by her

Sinyard, cousin of the bride, was

Miss Betty Sinyard attended the
gift table.

ond class, is stationed at Math
ers Air Base near there. He is
a radar operator and returned
here July 25 after a year of
duty in Japan.

groom attended Central Point
schools.

the wedding and reception.

and is receiving his basic train
ing with the all Oregon Navy
