a Camp White verdict over Cave
Junction. Medford at the top
and Cave Junction in second
place, nevertheless are the fa
vorit. Saturday night contention
will find the spirited Tlenters
fired for an upset. They gave
the Studs their closest call of
the RVL season in the first
round of play. Talent led 8 to

circuit, he won't have enough

are needed for the season and
the Studs have but the one game
to play.
Heading the quest for the bat
ting mantle is Ron Maurer of
Cave Junction with .515. Frank
Roelandt of Medford with 15
more times at bat has .479 and
Dick Wooton of Camp White
ranks third with .441. Frank
Rector and Ron Owings of Med
ford have .429 and .426.
Roelandt is front in runs, hits
and runs batted in with 24, 23
and 21.
In team batting Medford is
far ahead of the field with .351.
Cave Junction follows- with
.279.
Duane Sides of Medford and
Bartow top pitchers with 6-0 and
4-0 marks. Bartow has possibly
the top over all record. He has
struck out 55, walked only eight
and given up 27 hits and 11 runs
in 40 1-3 innings. Fitch of Tal
ent (4-2) has been the league
workhorse with 51 2-3 innings
on the mound.

Portland (W Officials of
the Portland baseball club, seek
ing a new general manager to
replace ousted Joe Ziegler, de
nied today that the club was for
sale.
"There is absolutely no truth
to the report that the Beavers
re due to be sold," a club di
rector said. He was replying to
rumors that the Chicago Cubs
might buy the Beavers.
The director hinted that a
new general manager may not
be named until after the present
season ends. Bill Mulflur, Zieg
ler's assistant, is handling the
GM job at present.
