Bill Force of Portland arrived
Aug. 3 for a week's visit In the
home of his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. H. D. Force. Before coming
to Gold Hill he had spent 10
days with friends in Canada at
Vancouver, B. C, and Victoria,
B. C.
Miss Judy Force and Dave ac
companied Bill to Ashland Fri
day evenign Aug. 9 where they
attended the play "As You Like
It" at the Oregon Shakespearian
Festfval.
He also visited other relatives
while in Gold Hill including his
grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Byer
Mr. and Mrs. Don Hodge of
Eugene spent the weekend of
Aug. 10 at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. John Cosswell. The Hodges
lived in Gold Hill several years.
Mrs. . Yvonne Corella and
children, Carolyn and Mark, of
Oakland, Calif., recently spent
several days visiting in the home
' of her mother, Mrs. Ruby Quak
enbush. Mrs. Jessie Hayes ac
companied Mrs. Quakenbush
and her guests to Crater Lake
National park one day.
Mr. and Mrs. Herb Edwards
and sons, Douglas and Bradley,
returned to their home in Marys
vill, Calif., Aug. 11 after a two
weeks visit at the home-of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Moore. The Edward's daughter,
Karen, remained with her
grandparents. She will return
to Marysville in September. Mrs.
Edwards is the former Yvonne
Morre.
The Moores were hosts Aug.
10 to a dinner party at their
home In observance of Mr. and
Mrs. Edward's 11th wedding an
niversary Present were Mr.
and Mrs. D. C. Maple and son,
Steve, of Central Point, and Mr.
and Mrs. Darrel Greb of Med
ford, the honored guests and
their three children.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Moore their
house guests, Mr. and Mrs. Herb
Edwards, and family and Mrs.
D. C. Maple and son spent sev
eral days camping at Diamond
lake last week.
Mrs. Joe Sprouse and daugh
ters Sheri and Yvonne, of
Marysville, Calif., arrived Aug.
10 for a visit in the home of her
mother. Mrs. Edith Thompson.
Mrs. Sprouse is the former Na
dean Swindler. She also will
visit her grandmother, Mrs.
Hannah Routh. and her brother
and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Swindler and son, Gary
Other former residents, who
are visiting in Gold Hill this
week are Mr. and Mrs. Vern
Walker and sons from Santa
Rosa. Califs They are visiting
in the homes of his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Walker, and
his brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Delos Walker and
daughters, Linda and Dixie Lee
Walker.
Mrs. Hazel Holifield of the
Old Stage rd. had as house
guests recently her son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd .Holifield and daughters,
Darlene and Julene, and son,
Holly, of Anchorage, Alaska.
They also visited with his brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and
Mrs La Vern Dungey, and
daughter, Kimbra. of Medford
before leaving for Browning,
Mont, to visit her relatives.
Lloyd left Montana Sunday,
it hr Washincton. D.C..
where he will attend FBI school
and visit his brotner, -net nuu
field, who is a congressman
from California.
Mrs. Holifield and children
will leave Montana soon for
Anchorage AlasUa.
Mrs. Hazel Holifield ton.
Bob, who also attend the local
school, is a territory policeman
at Haines, Alaska.
-. Mrs. Daisy Stephenson of
Grants . Pass is visiting a few
days in the home of her son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Moore.
Jimmy Brinson of Medford
was over night guest Sunday,
Aug. 11, at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Elmer Dungey,- where he
visited Skip Marsden, of Mil
waukee, Ore., who is spending
the- summer with his grandpar
ents.
GOLD HILL
Former Residents Visit

Gold Hill Many former
resident have returned to spend
vacations this summer in Gold
Hill with their families and
friends.
Among the recent visitors
were Major and Mrs. Linsley B.
Dorman and sons, Linsley and
Gregory, who were house guests
in the home of his mother, Mrs.
George Dorman, on Second av.
for 10 days.
During their stay here a fami
ly reunion was held at Mrs.
Dot-man's home at which time
the Major showed slides of
scenes from foreign countries
including Spain. France. Italv.
Holland, Switzerland and Ger
many. The Dormans had toured
these countries during the past
four years while he was on diy
in Germany with the Army. He
vas stationed two years . at
Frankfort and the remainder of
his duty was spent in Munich,
Germany.
Those present for the family
gathering were Mr. and Mrs.
Loyd Dusenberrv and son. fiarv.
of Safts Valley, Mrs. Rohert
Goodman and daughter, Debbie,
of Medford, and Mrs. Maybelle
Rains and the hostess, Mrs.
George Dorman.
Other affairs planned for the
Dormans included a dinner
party at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert MulWn and daugh
ter. Melody, at Talent. Mullin
is a former resident of Gold HilL
Wallace Iverson of Medford
was host at his cabin at Lake of
the Woods two days last week.
Guests included Major and Mrs.
Dorman and sons, Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Mluuin and daughter.

Mr. and Mrs. Milton Stein
metz and son, Harry Leigh, and
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ferguson re
cently spent several days camp
ing and fishing at Willow lake.
Others in this camping party in
cluded Mr. and Mrs. Don Stein
metz, their ions, Steven and
Terry, and their daughter, Miss
Karen Steinmetz, and Mr. and
Mrs. Cecil Bell and daughters,
Debbie and Joy, all of Medford.
Milton Steinmetz, who has a
contracting business In southern
California has been vacationing
the past three - weeks at his
home in Gold Hill.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Me
Mahan's ' son, Jeff ery Howard,
who arrived July 29 while his
mother "was preparing to leave
for a Medford hospital was born
on his great grand father,
George Taylor's 83rd birthday.
Taylor lives in Medford.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Boye
and children, Patty and Bobby,
were hosts to an outdoor picnic
at their home on Pacific High
way 99, north, recently.
Guests included Mr. and. Mrs.
Walt Swaser and daughter,
Lynn, ; Mr. and Mrs. Ruben
Compton and son, David, all of
Medford, and Swaser's mother,
Mrs. W. Swaser, and his sister,
Mrs. ' Ethel Stepanchak and
daughter, Cheryl, who . have
been visiting the last month in
Medford. Their home is in Min
neapolis, Minn., and Arnold
Boye of Gold Hill.
. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Parsley
of the Old Oregon Museum have
as their guests this week his
brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Lewis Parsley, and
family of Lakeside Calif.

were hosts at their home .on
Sardine creek to a dinner party
Aug. 8. Guests were Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Parsley and Mr.
and Mrs. Lewis Parsley . and

it's annual picnic Aug. 8 at
the Lampman Park across, the
river from Gold Hill. . . S
, Delos Walker was in charge
of making arrangement for the
picnic, -which includes the wives
and children of members of the
local Lion's club.
Mrs. Louise Wells of Everett,
Wash., is visiting at the home
of her son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wells, of the
Table Rock Estates.
Mr. and Mrs Thelbert Wright
of Sardine Creek and Mr. and
Mrs. DonDusenberry, Gold Hill,
spent last week at the Wallace
Iverson cabin at Lake of the
Woods. Mr. and Mrs. Don Hans
eom of Central Point also spent
two days at the cabin.
Ted Pohlman, who returned
recently from St. Louis, Mo., to
his home on the Upper River
rd., has reopened his radio and
TV business.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Payne of
Sams Valley received word Aug.
9 of the death of her sister-in-law,
Mrs. Arthur Fellows, ; In
San Rafacel, Calif. Fellows is an
officer in the state highway
patrol in California. . ......

Bailey were guests of Fred Les
ter .at his cabin, at Diamond
lake last Friday and Saturday.
' Paul Thompson and ' Frank
Carter spent Sunday fishing at
Diamond lake.
Guests in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Ferguson last week
end were his cousin and her
husband. Mr. and Mrs. C. D.
Judd, of Caldwell, Idaho, who
were enroute to San Francisco,
Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Netzel
had as their guests last week
end her' parents, Mr., and Mrs.
Evert Jennings of Chemult, and
Mr. and Mrs. Ira Devoll of
Chescent City, Calif.
Musil Nominated for
Cave Junction Council
' Cave Junction Larry Musil,
part owner and manager of the
Ivy and Frontier Theatres, was
nominated by Councilman Or
ville Meredith' this week to fill
the place on the Cave Junction
city council left vacant when
Roy Parmerlee resigned.
The nomination was unani
mously carried, and, pending
MusU's acceptance, his appoint
ment will be considered at the
next Council meeting.
