Harris' homer on a bad hop
ball in the outfield was the pay
off in Saturday's play-off scuf
fle. The blow came in the first
inning and drove in three runs.
West Coast got another mark
er in the third frame.
Crater Lake picked up two
tallies in the opening canto and
almost caught up in the sev
enth. Two hits and a base on
balls accounted for one-marker
and the Motormen were retired
with a man on third base when
the Lakeview shortstop made a
sensational catch of Don Wendt's
high foul ball.
In the exhibition the Insur
ance team took a four-run lead
and the Medford club, leader
in the Jackson County associa
tion, tied the tussle with a" four-
run surge in the sixth panel.
In each of the engagements
the Medford team outhit the
Lakeview team. Crater Lake
swatted five safeties to their
opponents three in the opener
and the difference was four to
two in the nightcap.
The state meet opens Aug.
17 at Oregon City.

stop. Medford came back with two
runs in its half of the second.
John Kovenz and rank Roelandt
drew walks. With two out, fleet
footed Frank Rector blasted a
triple to center field, scoring the

Big Fifth Inning
In the fourth Camp White's
Al Kimura beat out a bunt, went
to second on a fielder's choice
and came home when Red Herr
mann singled to left field.
Medford's big inning was the
fifth. Ron Owings, with two out
and Ed Reinking and Kovenz on
base, pushed the ball over right
field fence for a round trip

Camp White retaliated in the
sixth; Larry Irwin walked, went
to second on a baseman's error,
and scored on a single by Den
nis Conner. Keith Johnson made
it to first on a fielder's choice,
and was advanced by Bill Sey
mour's single. Here, Medford
Manager Roelandt called in
mound star Jerry Bartow, who
struck out Wooton to retire the

The Studs got three more
runs, two in the sixth inning
when Bartow's single scored
Roelandt and Rector, and one in
the seventh. Jerry Droscher
slammed a triple and was sacri
