Help Yourself to Happiness
Rcatfars ara Invite to present their problems. AU qnerlef will rceolre
individual attention and should be accompanied by a tumped, telf-addrened
envelope, directed to MARY HARRIS SEIFERT, M. A.. Department ot Educa
tion. The AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF FAMILY RELATIONS, S2SJ Suaset
Boulevard. Los Anteles 27 California.
Here at the American institute
we are often asked to counsel
people who think they are in
love but who are not sure. They
want to marry, they have pair
ed off with partners, but they
want to be certain that their
feeling is genuine. Here are
some questions which a mar
riage counselor might ask you
in determining the reality of
your love:
1. Do you feel that your
friend is equal of your father
and superior to the other
friends you might marry?
2. Do you feel depressed or
restless when you are away
3. Do you have more than
three common hobbies or in
terests which you could pursue
together after marriage?
4. Do you find it easy to
"give in" to your friend's pref
erences If they are different
from yours?
5. Do you want to marry this
person?
6. Does this person have
qualities valuable in the hered
ity of your children?
7. Does he have many
friends with whom you feel at
ease?
8. Do you admire this per
son's mind as well as his body?
Are You Really In Love.
9. Do you always find
enough things to talk about no
matter how frequently you see
each other?
10. Do you agree on at least
75 per cent of his viewpoints?
11. Do you feel proud of this
person s appearance, manners,
and personality?
12. Can you imagine your
selves, together, at your golden
anniversary and feel a sense
of warmth?
13. Do you respect each
other's judgement?
14. Do you feel that you are
really truthful and frank with
each other?
15. Does your family ap
prove of your friend?
16. Do your friends approve
of him?
17. Do children like him?
18Do you feel confident of
his kindness and consideration?
. 19. Do you feel your love for
him increasing?
20. Are you of similar age,
background, and tastes?
If you can truthfully answer
yes to sixteen or more of these
questions, chances are that you
are really in love. If not, wait
until you can be more certain
of your own feelings.
While you are weighing the
pros and cons of marriage,
don't miss reading one of the
most valuable publications on
this subject," Preparing t For
Marriage," by Dr. Paul Pope
noe, director of the American
Institute of Family Relations,
a non-profit educational insti
tute. Just send 25 cents to Mary
Harris Seifert in care of this
paper and the booklet will be
forwarded to you. I shall in
elude, without extra charge, a
list of the Institute's publica
tion list and another pamphlet
entitled "Before You Marry.
Paintings Shown

ford A. Platz, Medford artist,

the theory that art releases ten

structors have been Leon Derby
sire of th Derbyshire Fine Arts
school, Seattle; Peter Cauffer
man of Whidby island, Wash ,
and Peter Lovins, Hollywood.
She attended the Hollywood Art

children were in their teens.
Her paintings have been ex
hibited in many shows and
among her paintings is a prizs
winner in a traveling show. En
titled "Peace After The Storm",
the work was purchased by the
Women's club of Spokane, Wash.
