NO DINNER GONG NEEDED Thomas, a lost baby robin,
has a new "papa" in five-year-old Jamie McKinley of
Atlanta, Ga. who found the tiny bird after it fell from
a nest near his home. Jamie's folks have spent about a
dollar a day for worms to feed Thomas, who, although
able to fly now, refuses to rejoin his feathered friends.

TV season when "I Love Lucy"
graduated from a weekly stint
t five one-hour extravaganzas.
Pert Vivian still will be Lucy's
neighbor but only because the
tot-rated program goes into its
seventh year on an occasional
sUsis.
"I had just about had it," con
frssed Vivian at her Pacific Pali
sades hame. "I toyed with the
thought of playing some other
i character. I know how Art Car
ney feels since the Jackie
Gleason show is off Art is happy
as a clam working on dramatic
shows.

"I would have quit if it had

It's opened up a whole new
dream for me."
Vivian and her husband,

much of their time now on their
15-year-old four-acre "ranch"

que. N. Mex. They also cherish

muting to Hollywood for act

"And this year 111 do some
dramatic shows. I have time
tow," the blonde actress added.
Vivian is back in town as the
Dcsilu Company is getting ready
to film the second episode of
the new -Lucille Ball-Desi
Arnaz" show (the first bows on
.CBS-TV in November).
Format Virtually Sims
The format of the new pro
gram is virtually the same as the
half-hour version the same
characters in situation comedies.
But each show now is a com
plete story and produced in
more elegant style with expen
sive sets, guest stars and more
music.
The first program, which Viv
ian calls "just like a short movie
musical," concerns the meeting
of Lucy and Ricki. Rudy Vallee,
their alleged idol at the time,
plays himself in the story.

warn that children with bone
defects may be suffering from
a blood condition that lowers
their resistance to infections.
Drs. William .1. Kuhns and Ir
win A. Solow have discovered
that persons with bone and skin
defects may have a shortage of
gamma globulin in the blood.
Since the gamma globulin
(GG) .contains most of the anti
bodies that fight disease, such
persons are easy prey to all
sorts of infections.
The condition may be re
lieved by ""monthly shots of
gamma globulin.
"When we filmed the first
show it was like a New York
opening," said Miss Vance. "We
shot on three stages so our
studio audience had to move
three times. I'm sure this pro
gram will be as popular as the
weekly series and this way we
all have a chance to slow down
and breathe."

language of the native, so that
his English comes out with a
musical Scots overtone. But the
caffuffling (confusing) words
and phrases he has come up
with over the past three cen
turies is enough to hag (worry)
a visitor to death. .
London's Cockneys have a
bewildering collection of terms,
and some of their influence may
have crept into the Barbadian
speech,- since this is a little bit
of Old England in the Carib
bean. To help the uninitiated over
the hurdles of Barbadian speech,

Wilbur L. Morrison, executive
vice president in charge of the
Latin American Division at
Miami Fla., came up with a
glossary of terms.

A typical bit of advice to a
visitor might run like this, Wo

Duppy seems sawney malawney.
They can be as pranksious as a

The translation: "Don't be a
surly person just because every
Tom, Dick and Harry seems
lackadaisical. They can be as
frisky as a big flying fish at
harvest, festival." .
So, go get you ping-pong,
come to Barbados, and avoid
being gypsy. Translation: Gath
er up your passport picture.
