Keeping the lines open in the after hours are telephone operators Mrs. Don M. Chase, left, and Mrs. Howard Robertson. The two man the
switchboard at the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph office on 131 North Bartlett street. Mrs. Chase is at the board from 10 at night until 6, and
Mrs. Robertson works from 11 to 7. These are two of the operators that handle long distance calls during the night.

At a control panel in radio station KYJC, disc 'jockey Louis Nesburg beams late evening music over the air.
Nesburg handles announcing and newscasting duties from 3 in the afternoon till the station signs off at 11.
Here he holds a turntable ready with a selection on the recorded music program that follows thje nightly base-
ball broadcast.-
Patrolman Robert James, a 10 year veteran of the Medford police force,
checks a downtown store on his 4 to midnight beat. James rattles th
doors of Medford buildings to make sure all are locked. He prefers hit
foot beat to other jobs on the force.

A man who knows his city is this nocturnal driver for the Yellow Cob company. William Messer takes a cup
of coffee at the Greyhound post house and chats with waitress Mrs. A. J. Kindrick. Messer wheels passengers
through the streets from 6 at night to 6 in the morning. Mrs. Kindrick serves at the fountain from 7 at nighf
till 2 in the morning.

A single light above the desk illuminates the work of Mrs. Carl Timmerman, night nurse at Rogue Valley hospital.
Mrs Timmerman watches over the sleeping building at 843 East Main street from 11 at night to 7 in the morning.
Here she checks the list of patients and prepares a tray of medicine to take to their rooms.
