The First Presbyterian church
was the setting Sunday, June 30,
for the three o'clock afternoon
wedding of Miss Harriett Eliza
beth Dowson and Lieutenant
Fred Cutter Van Bebber. Dr. D.
Kirklasid West officiated at the
ceremony attended by 150 rela
tives and friends.
The bride is a daughter of Mrs.
Wasem Dowson. 47 South Berk
eley Way, Medford, and H. G.
Dowson, Mountain View, Calif.
The bridegroom is a son of Mrs.
Ralph Van Bebber of Lawrence.
Kan., and the late Mr. Van
Bebber.
The bride wore a white or
gandy Cahill original frock
styled with fitted bodice of eye
let embroidered organdy fash
ioned with square neck and short
sleeves. Her shoulder length
veil was held by a headband
trimmed with pearls. She carried
a cascade bouquet of pink rose
buds and stcphanotis and a 65
year old rosepoint lace hand
kerchief owned by Mrs. Richard
Milestone. She was the sixth
bride to carry it. The frock' was
first worn by Mrs. Gary Bo
shears at her wedding a year
ago.
John Hancock of San Francis
co gave the bride in marriage.
Wrs. Charles Wagstaff, sister
of the bridegroom from Em
poria. Kan., was matron of hon
or. Miss Nancy Monroe of Sac
ramento, Calif., and Miss Flor
ence Stacey, cousin of the bride,
were bridesmaids. The attend
ants wore white nylon organdy
frocks over pink taffeta with
white accessories. They carried
nosegay bouquets of pink rose
buds and carnations and had
garlands of pink roses in their
hair.
Charles Wagstaff served as
best nan for his brother-in-law.

the guests.
Mies Priscilla West played the
traditional organ wedding music.
Following the wedding a re
ception was held at the home of
tjie bride's mother. Mrs. George
Stacey and Mrs. Ellis Bean,
aunt of the bride, cut and served
th wedding cake made by Mrs.
Diamond Flynn. Miss Alice Al
lien was in charge of the guest
book. Assisting at the reception
were Mrs. Harry Poston, Mrs.
Jerry Tobin, Mrs. Carl Meador,
Un. John Hancock, Mrs. Ber
nard Nutting, Mrs. Gordon Mac
Kintia. Mrs. Hugh Collins, Miss
(lien Sleeter, and Bruce Mac
Kenzie. For her daughter's wedding
Mrs. Dowson wore an imported
cotton in tones of beige accented
with bands of lace and embroid
ery. Her corsage was of green
orchids. Mrs. Van Bebber chose
a pale pink imported linen frock
trimmed with alencon lace. Her
flowers were white orchids. .
The newlyweds traveled to
the Oregon toast on their wed
ding trip. For her traveling at
tire the bride chose a raw silk
suit with black patent and white
accessories.
The bride is a graduate of
Medford High school and the Col
lege of Pacific, Stockton, Calif.
She has been employed as an
gementary teacher. The bride
eroom is a graduate of the Uni
versity of Kansas. Lawrence,
Kan., and is a lieutenant in the
United States Air Force.
The couple will make their
home in Sacramento, Calif.,
where the bridegroom is sta
tioned. Out of town guests at the
wedding included Mrs. Ralph
Van Bebber, mother of the bride

Ralph Van Bebber entertained

luncheon June 29, at the Rogue
Valley Country club. Mr. and
Mrs. George Stacey, aunt of the
bride, gave a rehearsal dinner at
their home on East Fairview
drive Friday June 28. A buffet
supper was held for out of town
guests and close friends of the
couple.

Miss Markwith is a graduate
of Jacksonville High school and
Oregon Technological Institute
and interned at Scripps hospital,
LaJolla. Calif. She is employed
as an x-ray technician at Scripps
hospital. Mr. Heggs attended De
troit schools and is a corporal
in the United States Marine
Corps. He is stationed at the
Marine Corps Recruit Depot at
San Diego.

in San Diego at the Markwith
home. Among the guests present
for the announcement were Mr.

ville. No wedding date has been set.
Leave for Montana
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Jordan
and children. Ken and Linda, of
Great Falls. Mont., left Medford
Thursday after a week's visit at
the home of Mrs. Russell's par
ents. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Cox,
1819 Spring street. The couple
also visited friends in the area,
and planned to visit in Spokane,
Wash., on their trip back to
Montana.

The engagement of Miss Sally
Crawford, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Crawford of Rug
by, N. D., to Herbert N. Nill,
son of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Nill,
25 Meyers court, Medford, was
recently announced in Eugene.
Miss Crawford is a graduate
of the University of Oregon, hav
ing received her bachelor's de
gree in education last month.
She. is a member of Kappa
Kappa Gamma social sorority,
the engagement was announced
at a coffee hour at the sorority
house.
Mr. Nill is a graduate of the
University of Oregon 'and is a
member of Theta Chi social fra
ternity. He is now employed as
a fleet sales manager of a Eu
gene automobile agency.
The wedding will take place
Saturday, July 27, in Eugene.

daughter, Barbara, to Charles
Jack Hanel, son of Mrs. M. W.
Hanel, Ashland.
The bride-elect, a graduate of
the College of Idaho, is a teach
er in Grants Pass High school.
Mr. Hanel is a graduate of Ore
gon State college where he was
affiliated with Theta Chi social
fraternity, and is employed as
a biologist for the California
Oregon Power company.
The wedding is planned for
July 28 at Nampa.

In Portland Ceremony

The Wenonah club picnic,
scheduled to be held at Lake
Creek Wednesday, July 10, has
been postponed due to the death
of Mrs. Louis Bish.
A wedding of interest here was
held Saturday. July 6. in the Val
ley Community Presbyterian
church, Portland, when Miss
Coral Ann Stone became the
bride of Clarence Keith Ed
wards. Dr. W. B. Gamble offic
iated at the four o'clock after
noon ceremonv attended by 200
relatives and friends.
The bride is a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. J. Herbert Stone of
Portland, and has been making
her home at 235 South Oakdale
avenue, Medford. She is em
ployed as a home economics
teacher at McLoughlin Junior
High school. The bridegroom is
a son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert E.
Edwards, formerly of Medford
and now of Los Angeles, Calif.
He has been making his home
at 1409 Kings highway, Medford
and is a manufacturer associated
with his twin brother, Lawrence
Dale Edwards, in the Kadee
Metal Products company in Medford.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a gown of
white chantilly lace fashioned
with bouffant tulle skirt trimmed
with matching lace. Her finger
tip length veil was held by a
jeweled tiara and she carried a
spray of white roses, pink rose
buds and stephanotis.
Mrs. Donald Bird was matron
of honor while Miss Ellen Hug
gens, Miss Gwen Ellis, and Miss
Audrey Enger, all of Portland.
were bridesmaids. They wore
pink chiffon frocks with full
skirts and scalloped illusion veils
held by crowns. They wore
matching pink nylon mitts and
carried nosegay bouquets of
pink rosebuds and lavender
sweet peas.
Lawrence Dale Edwards served
as best man for his twin brother.
Visit Relatives
Mrs. C. H. Ferguson, the for
mer Miss Catherine Conroy of
this city, and three children, will
arrive Tuesday from Bellevue,
Wash., for a few days' visit at
the Seth Bullis home. 15 Flor

en route to San Francisco where
she will join her Husband, who
was recently transferred to the

later during the reception.

Hillcrest Orchard
A family reunion was held
Sunday, June 30, at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Sturgill,
Hillcrest Orchards. The reun
ion, relatives of Mrs. Sturgill,
included 28 guests for a buffet
dinner held on the lawn.
Among those present was N.
G. Dunithan of Modesto, Calif.,
Mrs. Sturgill's 84-year-old father.
Five of his seven children were
able to attend the reunion, the
largest held by the family.
Brothers and sisters of Mrs.
Sturgill included M. E. Duni
than, Hydro, Okla.; E. N. Duni
than, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs.
H. W. Niehues, Fruita, Colo.;
Mrs. Roy Swanson, Big Creek,

Mr. and Mrs. Dwaine Smith,

noon for Hollywood, Calif.-
'There they will study under
Max Munn Autrey, master of
photography, with studios in
Hollywood. Autrey is a former
still photographer -for Fox
movie studios, and in 1948 was
named the world's best still
cameraman by the India Film
Journalists association of My
sore, India.
While in California the Smiths
will also attend the convention
of the Western States. Profes
sional Photographers associa-
tion, July 13 through 16, in Los j
Angeles.
They will return July 22. The ;
Classic Studios will be closed
from yesterday through the 22,
and win re-open July 23.
In August, Mr. and Mrs.
Smith plan to attend the Pro
fessional Photographers associa
tion school in Winona, Ind.
Smith is a professional photog
rapher and his wife helps with
posing and does oil portraits.
