tachment has been added to the
U. S. Army military district of
Oregon. The unit will make its
base of operation at Vancouver
Barracks.
The new unit, assigned to Ore
gon permanently from Ft. Lewis,
Wash., will work closely with
police and civil defense agencies
throughout the state, according
to 1st Lt. Conrado A. Garcia,
commanding officer.
Garcia explained the job of
an ordnance disposal detachment
as disposing of "duds'" and un-
exploded military ordnance
items such as bombs, rockets and
shells that could cause loss of
life or injury by being prema
turely exploded.
