John C. Anicker Jr., deputy
district attorney, has been ap
pointed chairman of the special
events committee of the 1957-58
United Medford Crusade, accord
ing to Robert A. Johnson, general
chairman.
Anicker said he plans general
fund raising events with high i
entertainment value. He invites
assistance in raising money for !
the campaign from service clubs i
and other local organizations.
Most fund raising events will be
in the fall, with one or two dur
ing the summer.
This is Anicker's first exper
ience with the UMC. He and his
family, who live at 113 Laurel
St., have been in Medford since
January when he was appointed
deputy district attorney. Prior to
that he was in the legal section
of the Army, and was stationed
in Germany for two years. He is
a graduate of the Wilamette uni
versity law school, where he
received a doctor of jurispru
dence degree.
Anicker's wife, Joyce, is a
substitute teacher in the Med
ford school system. They have a
daughter, Kimberly, age 2.
Mausfs Completing
Farm Home Duties
Mr. and Mrs. O. Clifton Maust,
who have been managers of the
Jackson county farm home since
Jan. 1, 1939, are completing their
duties at the farm home today.
They will start their retire
ment Monday vith a trip to
Portland for a visit of about two ;
weeks with their son. They will !
then move into a home they re-1
cently built at 1050 Park st.,
Ashland. Mr. and Mrs. Maust j
plan to landscape the grounds
and get settled in their new heme
this summer. They intend to
travel in the south next winter.
Members of the county court
visited the Mausts Friday after
noon. They commended them for
their "efficient operation" of the
farm home in the past 18 years.
The court also expressed regret
over loss of the couple's services ;
and extended best wishes on I
their retirement. , !
Taking over management of
the farm and home Monday will
be Mr. and Mrs. William W.
Hoffman, who arrived here from
Portland on June 20. Mrs. Hoff
man is a nurse and Hoffman was
a farmer and rancher in Port
land. He previously operated a
commercial laundry and cafei
Boxer Dog Said
Missing Saturday
Father Nicholas Deis, of Sa
cred Heart Catholic church, Sat
urday reported missing his boxer
dog "Pete.'' also affectionately
known to members of the parish
as "Idiot."
The large, friendly dog has
been a favorite of children at
tending St. Mary's school. Fath
er Deis said. He believes that the
dog may have been picked by
someone who didn't know where
he belonged.
He appealed to anyone know
ing of "Pete's" whereabouts to
telephone SPring 3-1913. If
nothing else, he said, he hopes
to be assured the dog has been
properly cared for.
