Monday, July 1 at 8 p.m. at
the Y.MCA there will be a tiny
tot swimming demonstration ol
the Monday-Thursday 9 and
9:45 tiny tot swim sections. The
demonstration will consist of ex
plaining to the parents the steps
and methods which the instruc
tors at the YMCA use to teach
the youngsters how to swim
This will be an opportunity for
all parents to watch.
The instructs for the dem
onstration 'will be Jan Stevens
and Gordon Williams, YMCA
physical director. All parents
and interested persons are in
vited to attend.

Home Economics club tentative
ly planned a dinner the first
Sunday in August, at its last
meeting June 2H. Mrs. Ray Rags
dale and Mrs. Tom Vestal were
co-hostesses for the 16 members
present.
The IIEC and the ways and
means committee are to meet
at the next regular Grange meet
ing July 2 to discuss and plan
a menu for the August dinner.
The club also discussed a family
night project. Entertainment was
furnished by the Goering sisters.

Elect Officers
At Picnic Meet
Mrs. Floyd Robertson was
elected president of the Medford
Sojourner's club Thursday at a
picnic in Hawthorne park. Other
officers elected were: Mrs. Jim
Winslow, first vice-president;
Mrs. O. B. Crenshaw, second
vice-president; Mrs. Marvin Yost,
secretary, and Mrs. Eugene In
gram, treasurer.
After a potluck picnic lunch
40 members and guests played
cards during the afternoon with
Mrs. Gerald vonTing sweepstake
winner.
Hostesses for the day were
Mrs. Robert Culbertson, Mrs.
William Williams and members
of the board.
The next meeting of the club
will be at the Pythian hall,
Thursday, July 11, when the in
stallation of officers will take
place. All newcomers to Med
ford and vicinity are invited to
attend. Bridge, pinochle and ca
nasta are played.

and Mrs. James A. Lee of Klam
ath Falls in a ceremony held at
the home of the bride's parents
Friday, June 14. The Rev Rich
ard M. Jones of Eastwood Bap
tist church officiated at the dou
ble ring rites held at eight
o'clock in the evening.
For her wedding the bride
wore a white cotton lace frock
with full skirt. She wore a white
lace hat and carried a bouquet-of
white carnations.
Miss Doris Christian attended
her sister. She wore a pink ny
Ion frock with flowered head
dress and carried pink carna
tions. William A. Lee served as
best man for his brother.
Red roses and ferns decorated
the mantlepiece in the livinj
room of the Christian home for
the ceremony.
Following the wedding a re
ception was held.

Medford, after a wedding trip
to the Oregon coast.
For her daughter's wedding
Mrs. Christian wore an orange
and brown print silk dress with
white accessories. Mrs. Lee
chose a navy blue dress with
matching accessories. They both
wore white carnation corsages
The bride is a graduate of
Medford High school and was
employed at Christian's Market.
The bridegroom attended Lake
view schools and is employed
as a carrier driver for Daugherty
Lumber company.
Footlighters Tell
Cast For New Play
Selection of principals in the
cast for Medford Footlighters
summer show, "Mr. Angel,"
three act comedy by Harry
Segall was announced today by
Mrs. Max Wimmer, president.
The play to be presented at the
end of July, is being directed
by Frank Buchter, charter mem
ber of the local theater group
Tryout for the large cast of
13 members, extended over two
days and was conducted by Mrs.
Stan Zapell, drama instructor at
Medford High school, and also
a long time member of Medford
Footlighters. Two minor but
"colorful and important" roles
are yet to be cast, according to
Director Buchter, who describes
them as detectives with a chance
for real character interpretation.
Members of the cast already
announced include the follow
ing: Clyde Wheaten, Les Board
man, Joe Hilesburger, Mrs. Paul
Dix, Miss Jacque Colton, Miss
Helen Ashley, Mrs. Daren Flick
inger, Jerry Jerome, Mrs. Ernest
Nelson, Mrs.Robert D. Johnson
and Miss Madeleine Buonocore.

Stanford Memorial Church
Setting of Stith-Chez Rites
Miss Jonita Stith became the
bride of Fred E. Chez in a cere
mony held Tuesday, June 18, at
four o'clock in the afternoon
at the Stanford Memorial
church, Stanford, Calif. The
Rev. C. R. Minto officiated at
the double ring ceremony.
The bride is a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Stith, Musko
gee, Okla. The bridegroom is a
son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred L.
Chez, 812 Palm street, I.Iodford.
The bride wore a gown of
white Belgium embroidery over
white taffeta fashioned with
wide taffeta belt which formed
a bow in back. A braided satin
bandeau trimmed with clusters
of orange blossoms held her four
tiered illusion veil. The bride
carried a bouquet of yellow
roses, carnations, stephanotis,
and a white orchid.
The bride's veil was first
worn by Mrs. Joe Chez of Sac
ramento, Calif., sister-in-law of
the bridegroom. The pearl pin
the bride wore was loaned by
Mrs. Joseph C. Chez, grand
mother of the bridegroom of
Medford, which had been worn
on her wedding day 57 years
ago.
Mr. Chez, father of the bride
groom, escorted the bride to the
altar.
Mrs. John Embach of Tempe,
Ariz., was matron of honor. She
wore a yellow organdy frock
with blue accessories and car
ried yellow roses, white carna
tions, and bachelor buttons. She
had matching flowers in her
hair.
Joe M. Chez of Sacramento
served as best man for his broth
er. Mike G. Zinck, fraternity
brother of the bridegroom, seat
: ed the guests.

white accessories and white or
chid corsage.

ers and lighted candles deco
rated the church. Following the
ceremony a reception was held
at the home of Mrs. John Em
bach in Menlo Park, Calif.
Candles, lilies - of - the-valley,
white stock, and carnations,
decorated the table which held
the tiered wedding cake. Mrs.
R. S. Carrothers, Oakland, aunt
of the bridegroom, cut and
served the wedding cake. Mrs.
Joe M. Chez, Sacramento, was
in charge of the guest book.
Later that day a wedding sup
per was served at The Old Plan
tation in Palo Alto, Calif.
The newlyweds left on a wed
ding trip to Santa Cruz, Calif.,
and Muskogee, Okla. The bride
chose for her traveling attire a
blue linen dress with jewelry
that was a gift of the bride
groom. The couple will visit the
bride s parents in Oklahoma.
They were unable to attend the
ceremony due to illness.
The bride is a graduate of
Northwestern university and
studied at Oxford. England.' She
is now doing graduate work in
music at Stanford university.
She is a member of the Stan
ford orchestra and chorale. The
bridegroom is a graduate of
Medford High school and re
ceived both his bachelor's and
master's degree in education
from Stanford university. He
served in the United States
Army in Germany as a pho
tographer. He is a member of
Phi Delta Kappa, national hon
orary education fraternity, and
Theta Chi, social fraternity. The
couple plan to make their home
in San Jose. Calif., where Mr.
Chez will teach at Andrew Hill

employed as a stenographer for

has been making her home at 15

groom will report for duty at
