Flora M. I have five bosses
Mrs. D. M We're trying to
help her.
Flora M. I am the young
est in a family of four, so it
looks as though I have to get
the worst of everything. I am
15 and I have sisters of 18 and
20 and a brother of 21. With
them and my parents I have
five bosses.
Every bit of food I eat, the
entire family is down on me.
They keep telling me I'm get
ting fat and pimply. When I go
out of the house, I have to pass
inspection. My brother sneers
at my make-up, my sisters
scream at my hairdo, my father
laughs at my dress and my mo
ther complains that I haven't
washed behind my ears.
It's getting so that I hate
to come home. With my friends
I'm happy. They don't seem to
think I'm such a freak. Only my
family thinks so.
Mrs. D. M. Flora Is so sen
sitive she takes the least word
to heart and bursts into tears if
anyone says anything to her. It
happens that her sisters have
had weight and skin problems
and are very conscious of diet
They are trying to help Flora
so she won't develop any of the
problems they've had.
As far as her appearance is
concerned, Florida is really very
strange. I haven't had this prob
lem with the older girls. Flora
seems to have no sense of what
looks well on her. She gets her
self up in a way that can only
be described as freakish. Every
day she tries a newer, craziei
hairdo and make-up. She seems
to be trying to imitate different

As far as food is concerned,
there is a very simple solution

could cause skin and weight
problems.. A healthful diet for
adolescents is healthful for the
adults as well. The sacrifices
of rich high-caloried foods ought
not be too painful since it will
also achieve peace at the dinner
table.
